Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
Very flavorful and tender! Added an additional cup of water to have more juices for gravy.

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
I had a party last year where I first serve this dip. This year was the second annual event and I was given as RSVP contingent upon serving this dip again. I made a lot & i was devoured! You may want to keep it warm in a small crock pot or serve in a microwave dish that can be warmed up a few times through the night as its at it best texture & taste served warm. Mmmm!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
Wonderful! Used Cattlemen's smoky BBQ sauce from Sams Club & everyone loved it - perfect dish for serving a lot of people & freezes well for great leftovers!

Graham Cracker Crust I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I used this crust in Pumpkin Pie this Thanksgiving. Now I really know what a "rave review" is! My Grandmother called her sister to give her this recipe, the pie vanished, and I got called (several times) to remind me to make it again for Christmas - wow. Also, I accidentally double baked the crust on accident (baked it and then realized the other recipe called for an unbaked pie shell)- not to worry! Cover the exposed edges and bake away, it actually carmelizes even more...mmmmm!

Make Ahead Lunch Wraps

Great to keep on hand in the freezer. Adding cilantro is a must - otherwise you'd miss out on the liveliness it has to offer!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
Great recipe! It goes well with all pies. I'm going to make my next pie trying the butter flavored shortening to see if it makes it even better. Also, I thought to add a recent tip that I have tried and love -rolling out your chilled dough between 2 silicone baking mats makes homemade pie crusts almost effortless. The dough doesn't stick(thus I ended the night without having my counter, or myself, covered in flour)and the mat is heavy (flexible, but not flimsy) making it much easier to fold the crust into the pie plate than with parchement/wax paper!

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
I loved the flavor of this dish and served over farfalle (bowtie) pasta. It was a first using pimentos and I was very pleased! The flavor is very rich - so much so that I may try offsetting the richness with 1/2 & 1/2 instead of whipping cream. Still a great choice!!!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
The topping is amazing. Next time I will use a larger baking dish, same amount of peaches, and double the topping.

Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2007
I added 3 cloves of garlic. I made additional servings the 2nd time and STILL had no leftovers! Thank you. Also, this pairs very nicely with Maple salmon by starfish on this site (be sure to add ginger with the salmon)!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
This is a decent base recipe but FRESH GRATED GINGER IS A MUST to make this recipe a real winner; before I added it the dish was unremarkable. Ginger root keeps very well in the freezer. Grate ginger over the top to your desired taste. YUM!

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
I love this recipe, as does everyone i've shared it with. I'm usually not a fan of any dish where turkey imitates beef, but this is wonderful; dare I say, better than most beef chilis I have tried! It also works nicely to sub 3 serrano peppers for the cayenne. Thanks!

Ali's Amazing Bruschetta

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
Add 2-3 cloves garlic, which Ali omitted because she's allergic (poor Ali!), and it's perfect! I toasted a hearty french bread a bit before adding the mixture.

Champagne Shrimp and Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
this was good but wasn't as flavorful as expected. Followed recipe completely. I would still make again. As one reviewer suggested, I would use bowtie pasta the second time as it would make for a nice(r) presentation and help the sauce cling better.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
I love this recipe. I use the crisco shortening sticks to making measuring easier. It does make more chocolate than needed for the recipe - you may want to dip twice, add another pint of strawberries, or reduce mix by half to avoid waste.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
Great, rich flavor. A word of caution, it does have a heavy herb flavor, which, while I find delicious, others may find a bit strong. Spinach salad with a light balsamic dressing is a nice side and balances the meal.

My Mom's Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
Simple but good. I didn't add water as I had enough liquid from the (not drained) tomato juices to make a nice sauce, which I did thicken a bit w/ cornstarch.

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
Pretty good. You can really dress them up how you like...apples & cinnamon, toasted walnuts. They are a bit thin, fine by me but not a "meaty" pancake you'll really sink your teeth into...that's the point - nice and light tasting!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
Love these! I would go a bit easier on the topping. Also, as a new baker I learned NOT to use the measuring cup to scoop out the flour as you'll get much more flour than called for. Instead, spoon the flour into the measuring cup and level. Everyone else in this forum may be saying, duh, but I thought to share. Great recipe.
