Southern as You Can Get Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
This is SO yummy! I followed the recipe but put in some of my own additions. I couldn't find any ham hocks so I just used a small ham cut up into slices. I boiled the ham slices in water beef broth for 45 minutes before I added the collards. I also chopped up half a onion and 2 jalepenos. For spices I added cayenne pepper and creole seasoning...I don't have measurments I did it by sight and smell. They came out PERFECT..not too soggy or too crunchy! We are going to eat them tommorrow with pinto beans, cornbread and mashed potatos. A perfect southern meal!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2006
My hubby was craving sausage gravy and biscuits....gravy isn't my thing so he looked up this recipe and made it. He used the exact ingredients that the recipe called for. We both thought there was WAY too much sausage in it for my taste, but otherwise it was good so I gave it 4 stars.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs III

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2005
I too, was a little put off by the different mixture of ingredients, but I decided to try it, and I'm glad I did! This is wonderful, and Joy is right, addicting! I also added kilebasa sausage to the recipe. It was enough for me and hubby to have leftovers. I ate it all through the next day as I couldn't stay out of it and was really mad when hubby stole the last of it to take to work! This has become a favorite for us! YUM! Thanks Joy!

No Bake Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2005
YUMMY YUM YUM!! This was so easy and so good! I used spenda instead of sugar and a ready-made grgraham cracker pie crust. I also poured a can of cherry pie topping on top instead of the strawberries! Very good-me and hubby enjoyed! Oh and it tastes better the longer it sits...was much tastier the day after I made it! Will definately make again!

Easy and Quick Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2005
Oh WOW! This is going to be a favorite in this house! It tasted so good and hearty...a perfect winter dish! I served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes (also from this site). I used stew meat and it came out so tender it was falling off my fork! I also added 2 beef broth cubes and I obmitted the red pepper. Another reviewer commented it was a sloppy mess, it is kinda sloppy as the meat is so tender that it breaks up and it is kinda like a stew. But it tasted so good I didn't mind, for leftovers the next day I piled it on top of a slice of bread, YUMMY!

Barbeque Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2005
OMG YUM YUM!! My hubby kept telling me how good this was! This sauce is better than store bought IMO. I added honey to the mix to thicken and it coated the chicken nicely! It was perfect! I also added sliced onion and fresh sliced mushrooms to the chicken and baked according to directions...I think this would be even better in the crock-pot!

OMG!!! This was SOOO wonderful! The maple syrup really makes this recipe and the flavor was so good! I served it with vanilla bean ice cream. My hubby thought it was too rich but it didn't stop him from eating it!!

This is the PERFECT chili recipe! My hubby was craving chili the other day so I made this recipe...I did follow another reviewers suggestion and added another can of tomato sauce. I also only added one can of beans, instead of two. YUMYUM Perfect with mustard and lots of cheese!! Thanks George!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2005
I followed this recipe almost exactly...I added a touch of honey to the sauce and put sliced onion and fresh mushrooms to the bottom of the pan. I also added sliced pineapple to give it a hawaiian kick...then I added the pork chops on top and topped it with more pineapple. I gave it a four star rating because of the fact that I changed the recipe. While it wasn't horrible...it wasn't the best either. Hubby liked it, but I don't think I'll make again.

I followed the directions and used the same ingredients. I made just two big layers instead of several, and I put a big dollup of sour cream on top when ready to serve. This was SOOOO good and tasty!!!! My hubby kept telling me what a great cook I am LoL!

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2005
Oh WOW this is resturant quality...thats what my hubby said anyway, I agree! I added fresh mushrooms and I didn't have kalamata olives so I used peruvian olives. This was also my first time eating artichokes!! It was WONDERFUL. I agree with a previous reviewer that the feta cheese is what makes this recipe so great.
