Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2006
This was excellent! I made it in the morning and let it marinade for the day. I served it as a side for 'My Crab Cakes' (from this site) and the result was so amazing!! It's better than store bought in my opinion.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2006
These were super soft!! I read TONS of reviews and was really worried about whether or not these would turn out but I was pleasantly surprised. Only used 4 cups of flour and 3/4 tsp of salt in the dough and it was plenty. Still had to add a tablespoon of water to it to make it workable. Next time I'll try cinnamon and sugar on top and don't worry about the browning...it's just the baking soda/water mixture.

Apple Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2006
I thought that these were great. I didn't read the reviews before making them so I didn't add any extra spices to the batter. They were ok coming out of the oven but the next day they were super good and moist. Also, you only need to make half the topping cause even after I generously topped my 15 muffins, I still had lots left over!

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
Very yummy! I too used salsa instead of tomato sauce and homemade Enchilada Sauce (from this site) to top it with. I think next time I won't bake it at all but just roll it up, add a little sauce and serve. It was all mushy and just fell apart when baked with the sauce.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
This recipe was great! I made it in my food processer in advance and kept it in the fridge until needed. It still turned out beautifully. I used it to top "Bacon Cheeseburger Upside Down Pizza" (from this site) as per another reviewers suggestion and it was so yummy!

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
I loved this rice!! I didn't have the green pepper on hand or the diced tomatoes with green chilies. I just used a can of regular diced tomates and it came out great. I also used chicken broth instead of water. Very yummy!!!!

Extremely yummy! This made the beef so tender and the broth was excellent. I love stew and this is one of my favorite new recipes.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2006
This is awesome!!! What a nice change from the old tried and true spinach dip! I would suggest making sure your cream cheese is diced small so it melts better and you need a bit more than just 15 minutes but all in all...very good!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2005
This icing is great! Make sure you don't use no name cream cheese...at least I didn't think it tasted as good as the name brand stuff. Great stuff!

Sourdough Tomato Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
This was a fantastic bread! My starter isn't very strong so it didn't really taste very "sourdoughy" but I added 1 tsp of dried minced onion (next time I'll add 1 Tbsp), some italian seasoning and sundried tomatoes (don't forget to blanch in boiling water first if using dried) and it turned out wonderfully!

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2005
As everyone else says...this recipe is wonderful! I too used about 3 Tbsp. of corn starch in the sauce and only half a cup to coat the chicken before deep frying. I also used 1 Tbsp. of red pepper flakes in lieu of dried chiles. Even my husband who doesn't like Chinese food liked this dish!

Restaurant-Style Potato Skins

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
I'm with everyone else on this...this recipe is fantastic!! The only thing I did differently was to add some chopped green onion to the cheese and bacon. You could even sprinkle some garlic salt on top. So fattening and delish!!!!

Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
These were really nice. Like others, I reduced the oven temp...to 300 and wrapped the ribs tightly in foil after basting them with the sauce. I also first brought the sauce to a boil on the stove and then simmered for about 45 minutes before adding it to the ribs to thicken it up a bit. I only added 3 tsp. of dry mustard and about half the required worcestershire. Done this way they come out incredibly tender and yummy!

Open-Faced Broiled Roast Beef Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
So amazing! I wasn't able to toast the buns first so I just put the whole sub in the oven at 350 for about 10-15 minutes...just watch the cheese. Then I broiled for a few minutes, but be careful as the buns will burn quickly.

Pasta Shrimp Toss

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2005
Awesome! I too tripled the amount of whipping cream for the sauce but don't triple the flour. 1 tbsp. should still be enough but add just a tiny bit at a time if it's not otherwise you'll end up having to thin it out with water like I did. Also, a quick side note, if you use pre-cooked shrimp a way to keep them from getting rubbery is to just add them at the very end so they just warm instead of cook more.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
Great idea! I used a different cookie recipe (caramel filled chocolate cookies from this site) and topped them with the Andes mints as well as After Eights. Both worked but the Andes were creamier! AWESOME!!

Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: May 10, 2006
I haven't tried these yet but made them for a friend and she gave them rave reviews!! The only problem I had was trying to fit it all in the jar. I used the size it called for but had to leave at least a 1/4 cup of the flour out and I only added 3/4 cup of chocolate chips cause it wouldn't all fit. Maybe if I used mini chocolate chips next time? Anyway it still turned out great and I'll try packing it WAAAAAY tighter next time. A hit!!
