Honey Nut Granola

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2005
Very nice! The good thing about this recipe is that you can really play with what you put in and how much. As per other reviewers suggestions, I used homemade applesauce but almost tripled the amount (ie. almost 1 cup) and halved the amount of honey. I also had to change the bake time to 200 degrees for an hour cause mine burnt a bit on the recommended temp. as it wasn't near done after 20 min. All in all, a great recipe and lots of good suggestions from others.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
This is a nice recipe! I don't have a bread maker so I did it this way for 2 loaves. 2 cups of warm water with 6 tbsp of honey dissolved in it. then sprinkle 2 1/4 tsp of yeast and let proof for 10 minutes. Then add 1/4 cup of oil and 1 1/2 tsp salt. Then all your flour (I used about 5 cups, half whole wheat and half white) and seeds. I also added hemp hearts which are high in omega 6 and omega 3 fats. Then I let rise in a oiled bowl for 1 hour, punch down and divide into 2 loaves then let rise again for 45 min. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes. SOOO GOOD!!!

Delicious Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2005
I'm usually kind of skeptical trying recipes on this site that haven't been rated but I'm very pleased to be the first one to rate this bread. I didn't have italian seasoning but used 1/4 tsp of each...sage, oregano, thyme and basil. It turned out so soft and delicious that I will certainly be making again for company.

French Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2005
I love this bread! The first time I made it I steamed them but used too much egg white and the crust was way too hard. This time I cut back on the egg and steamed them again and the loaves turned out beautifully! The way I steamed them was by following another reviewer's suggestion by putting about 6-8 ice cubes on a cookie sheet on the rack directly below the bread. I left it in for the first 15 minutes of baking then removed the pan. It works great!

This was really, really rich but very tasty. Next time I'll use a chocolate crumb crust though.

Philly Steak Sandwich

I liked this recipe. Who cares if it's "authentic" or not I say! I did tweak it a little to my family's taste and added mushrooms and a little garlic tomato sauce. I loved the spice mixture and overall it was a wonderful meal idea.

Chocolate Bar Filled Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: May 31, 2005
This was a really nice cupcake. The key is to definatley not overbake so I suggest checking it around the 18 minute mark then continuing every minute or so if it's not done. Either that or lower the temp to 325. Trust me...it's worth it!

SUPER HOT!! These were really good and screamin' hot! I did add 1/4 tsp of flour as per someones suggestion and I simmered them until the sauce was pretty much all gone from the pot. Will for sure be making these again!

Beef Stew VI

Honestly, I'd have to say that this was the best beef stew I'd ever had. I always try to make it and it never quite turns out how I want but this really was great! Thanks for the recipe.

Tzatziki Sauce

The taste is great but next time I will DEFINATLEY drain the cucumbers better and blend everything except yogurt then fold it into the yogurt. I will use what I made this time in the food processor as a dressing...still great though!

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

This dish was ok but needs a little something to add a bit more flavour. I doubled up on the garlic as per someones suggestion but maybe seasoning the chicken may help. Still a good dish and I will try again.

Best Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
I liked this recipe. The changes I made were to add 2 tbsp olive oil...it was plenty, and added a dollop more mayo. Also I cubed the cheese instead of shredding and added a stalk of celery. I think that next time I'll try a can of tuna instead of ham for a change. Good recipe!

Authentic Mexican Tortillas

These were ok. I think I made mine a little too small and thick cause they had too much of a pastry taste for my liking. I think I'll try again some time but only make 8 and roll them out really thin.

BBQ Chicken the Old Bay® Way

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2005
Nice sauce but next time I will add a little less horseradish, I found it tasted a little too much like cocktail sauce. Also I think a little minced onion dried or fresh would be good as well. Still a nice BBQ sauce.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2005
These cookies were really nice!! They taste very similar to the ones that I've made for years. I think that anyone who is saying that they're too hard, aren't watching them close enough. Cookies are very tempermental and you have to leave them in for just the right amount of time in order for them to turn out soft. Whenever the recipe says 10-12 minutes, maybe try 8-9 minutes and turn the cookie sheet half way through, which is what I do. They may not look done on the top but will be golden brown on the edges and once they cool you'll see that they are indeed done and will stay soft and moist.
