Dilly Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
Easy and good - it doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for the recipe Skipper72.

Gingerbread Coffee

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
This was very good. I only used about a teaspoonful of the stuff in a cup of coffee and the tablespoon was too much. I also didn't have whipped cream, but, oh well. I'll bet a little Bailey's or Kalua would kick this up a step! Thanks for the recipe Jennifer!

Dilled Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
This was pretty good. I used left-over Rosemary Garlic Chicken (from this site) and am glad I did. Although the flavors meld well, it was a little bland. It does make a large amount and would be a very good thing to take to a potluck or fundraiser. Thanks for the recipe Kimberly.

Pickled Eggs

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
I'll admit it - I don't like pickled eggs. But I made these over New Years to enter into a pickled egg contest. Mine was the only one made with beets. Everyone admitted they were "real purty", but the didn't like them. I guess if you don't like pickled beets, you won't like these eggs. However, the beets in this recipe were the best pickled beets I've ever made so this goes in my recipe box for that reason alone. Thanks, Terry!

Sausage Casserole II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
This made a very quick and easy week day dinner. I would, however, recommend that you do not use Italian sausage as I did. The flavor wasn't quite "right" - not bad, but not particularly good. Next time I'll use a nice Polish sausage or Kielbasa. For a busy day, wit's end supper idea, this hit the spot. Thanks Judy.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
I needed to find a new recipe for this year's chili cook-off contest and thought I'd give this one a shot because of it's high rating. We are given 6 hrs. to prepare and cook our chili on-site before the judges taste the entries. Therefore I was looking for ease of preparation, versatility (i.e. add or omit ingredients as needed) and flavor. Not to mention it had to hold up well without the beans. What we have here is THIS YEARS CHILI COOK-OFF WINNER! Yea. This has a very good flavor, texture and "bite". Not too spicy and not too bland. Thanks for the recipe MIGHTYPURDUE22.

Rosemary Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
This has a nice flavor. I didn't thicken it due to time constraints. I also forgot to soak the beans so I left them out. I'll bet some sort of pasta would be good in this, but I didn't think of that until we were eating it. I put everything in the crockpot and cooked it for 6-7 hrs. on med-hi. Good recipe. Thanks Sahara836!

Eggplant Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2006
This was very good, in spite of the fact that I didn't have good bread to put it on. The sauce was very tasty.

Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2006
This was pretty good. The sauce had a nice flavor. We did double the amount of cream and wine as it didn't make very much sauce for our potatoes.

We did not care for this at all. It was too "eggy" tasting. Sorry.

Freak'n Good Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
Man, these are good! I've tried numerous rib recipes, but this is the best. The marinade made the ribs flavorful and tender. I used Famous Dave's Rich and Spicy BBQ Sauce. Thanks for the great recipe.

Fiesta Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
This was excellent. I've never been a fan of stuffed peppers - I think the taste of the green pepper just threw it off. But I had everything on hand to made them, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm sure glad I did! Easy to prepare and they tasted great! Thanks for the recipe Lisa.

Stuffed Eggplant

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2006
Ever since an old Italian guy here in town told me about eating his momma's Italian sausage-stuffed eggplant, I've wanted to try it. He couldn't remember how she made it, though, so I was very pleased to see this recipe come through my RSS feed. My suggestions: we used spicy sausage - next time I'll use sweet like the recipe said. Be sure and chop the sausage up into small pieces. Judge the amount of sausage you need to your eggplant. We had more sausage than eggplant and I think it would be better if the mixture was half and half. Next time I'll cook the shells in the oven while I'm preparing the stuffing as the shells were too tough. All in all, this was an excellent recipe - Thanks Elaina!

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2006
Egg salad is one of those things that's pretty hard to mess up. Eggs, mayo, mustard, dill relish, salt and pepper - right? But when this gem of a recipe landed on my RSS feed, I just *knew* I had to try it. I now have a new favorite way to make egg salad sandwiches. The mustard powder gives it that mustardy flavor without the extra vinegar that's present in prepared mustard. And the dill weed! Oh my - THAT is what sets this whole recipe apart. With a more intense dill flavor than regular dill relish, it perfectly compliments the eggs and mayo. And, since we love onions, I finely chopped about 2 Tblsp. of fresh onion into my salad instead of the plain onion flakes (which can sometimes be more pungent than the "real" thing). Try this recipe - you won't be disappointed! Thanks, Sara!

Golden Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2006
This wasn't too bad. Easy enough to put together but terribly bland. It tasted like every other chicken/mushroom soup/cheese/noodle casserole out there. I was hoping the ricotta cheese would add a depth to the dish and it just didn't.

Awesome Ham Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 22, 2006
Awsome is right! I made this up and have been eating it for lunch and it just gets better. My family doesn't like sweet pickles, so I used sweet pickle relish instead. But I have to wonder, what am I missing by not having that 1/2 cup pickle juice to put in the salad. The next time I make this salad (and there WILL be a next time!), I'm going to buy a jar of sweet pickles specifically to put in here. If its this good when NOT following the recipe exactly, how good will it be when I do? Thanks for the recipe.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: May 2, 2006
This is very good. It makes enough to serve at a fundraiser and it's different from other macaroni salads in that is a little sweeter. Plus it looks pretty. This was gone before the other macaroni salads on the board. Can't ask much more than that! Thanks Connie0751.
