Positive, outgoing, energetic and a true gourmet, I am a member of several global food and wine associations, I love to cook, am obsessed with food (in a good way) and am continually trying to hone my craft and better my skills. Friends always vote to eat at our house which I find very flattering, and a bit of a relief to be honest, as I am definitely the best cook in the bunch! My husband agrees wholeheartedly and often jokes that this is the main reason he married me! LOL!
My favorite things to cook
I love the idea of simple, fresh foods. Luckily HK is a wonderful foodie haven with a plethora of fabulous restaurants and wonderful food shops with produce imported from all over the world. We also have very extensive outdoor markets where the freshest seafood and vegetables can be purchased. I personally love to cook in the Mediterranean style and more often than not fish will feature heavily in a meal as my husband is a big fan of seafood! I cook every meal we eat at home and never ever will you eat out of a box or a can in my house!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a family of foodies and nothing is dearer to us than when we get together, crack open a few bottles of wine, play some opera and cook together. All of us are quite accomplished in the kitchen; my dad taught my mom how to cook when they got married, and my sisters and I are all in love with the kitchen! family meals are more than just food, it is how we share our lives and build on the bonds that make my family unique!
My cooking triumphs
The first meal I ever made from beginning to end; Cheese stuffed pork loin, salad and sorbet - all by myself at the age of 9!
My cooking tragedies
A few years ago we moved into a new apartment and I decided to make baked chicken breasts for dinner. My husband really does not like chicken so this was one of the few times I convinced him to eat it.. So I made the meal, served the food (he was starving) and my hub cut into the meat to discover it was still raw inside! Shock and Horror! Turns out the oven was on the blitz and not heating properly so technically it wasn't my fault however these things are so rare in my kitchen that I still haven't been able to live it down... A sore spot for me indeed!
