I am a 28 year old blessed wife and mother to three wonderful little boys. I have been married since May 2003 and God has given me the most wonderful husband, one who has gotten used to me trying out new and crazy recipes on him! My sons Christopher (6), Jesse (3 and a half), and Asher (4 months) don't have a very sophisticated palate yet, ;) but I have hope for them!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that will really bowl people over. I'm Italian, and I love to watch people eat and enjoy a good meal. Coming back for seconds is the best compliment, and I will cook anything to achieve that! I am really into fish lately, and finding the best, most interesting recipes for that. I also love a good slow cooker recipe. Even though my job is at home, its so wonderful to have a meal preparing itself all day in the crockpot! And the smells! MMMMmmm
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love when my side of the family does the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. We don't always get the chance to so its a special treat when we do. Also, I have the recipe for gravy (or as Americans know it, spaghetti sauce) that my mother taught me, which her mother taught her, etc. And I hope to pass the generations-old recipe onto my daughters....if I ever have any ;)
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I try a new recipe and my husband loves it and wants me to keep it in the recipe box is a triumph for me! I also catered my middle son's first birthday party for about 75 people. it was a lot of work, but a lot of fun!
My cooking tragedies
The worst I can think of is when my husband and I were dating, and I liked cooking to impress him. He grew up in a meat and potatoes family, and I was trying to turn him on to fish. I made tilapia the way a greek woman showed me how - at least, how I thought she showed me. When it came out of the oven, the fish and potatoes were still submerged beneath an inch of olive oil! Still in that awkward dating phase, I still served it and he managed to eat it. Now we laugh about it, but to this day the thought of that oily fish dinner turns his stomach!

Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Shoulder
This was soooo delicious!! I used apple cider vinegar, but other than that I followed the recipe to the letter. My pork shoulder was about 4 pounds. I let it brine about 16 hours and it cooked for about 9 hours. Pretty easy to shred, and basically fell off the bone. I served on toasted kaiser rolls, and topped with coleslaw. Perfect game day dinner!

Kalbi (Korean BBQ Short Ribs)
this was FANTASTIC. I followed the recipe exactly, and served as suggested - rolled in romaine lettuce leaves, with rice, browned garlic, and hot chili paste. My husband is still talking about this meal days later, thats how I know it was a hit. (my 3 year old also polished off the rest of the meat plain after we finished our rolls!) I just had plain old beef short ribs (bought at Wegmans) in the freezer, and found this recipe to use them in. Its always so nice when a "new" meal turns out to be such a success!! Thanks so much, my husband is already after me to make this again as soon as possible! And, I will have to double the recipe next time! ;)

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana
EXCELLENT!!! I have found another soup to add to my rotation - and that is a hard spot to fill! The only things I did different was I used chicken stock in place of broth (more flavor), only 2 large potatoes, cubed (left skin on), 2 cups of kale (washed, dried & chopped) in place of the spinach and added slightly more bacon - more like half a pound (7-8 slices). I had link mild italian sausage so I just had to slice off the casing and crumble myself. not a big deal. I also probably added slightly more red pepper to the soup - plus salt and ground pepper to taste at the end - so yummy. When I added the cream and kale at the end, I let it simmer for around 4 minutes. This was so perfect, easy, hubby raved, and i look forward to making it again!
