Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
Amazing!!!!! I never knew mushrooms could taste so good. The marinade was very flavorful and the bacon hit the spot. I skipped the onions because I don't like them and used regular bacon for cost reasons. I also used fresh pineapple. I'd make it exactly the same next time! Thanks for the recipe! This will for sure be added into my summer grilling rotation!!!!!

Pumpkin Corn Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2013
These were great and perfect with chili. I used 3 TB of unsweetened applesauce instead of oil and skipped the pecans.

Snow Ice Cream II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
Just like I remember from when I was a kid....I didn't really measure any of the ingredients. I just added some of each until it seemed right.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2013
Excellent! I love the little bit of zip the cayenne pepper and red pepper give it! Enough for me to enjoy it but the kids to still eat it and not complain. We doubled the recipe (but not the honey so that it wasn't too sweet) and froze half of it.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2013
This was fantasic! The other reviews were so helpful! I used turkey sausage, 6 cups of low sodium beef broth (a box and a can), 2 cans of diced tomatoes (drained a little bit), and instead of the carrots and zucchini, I threw in frozen peas and carrots for the last 30 minutes. I also left out the onion and used dried basil. The flavor was so good and the salt level was perfect. I'll be making this many times again!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2012
These were really good but spicy. I used the whole packet of ranch dressing and left out the butter. I also had used the whole bottle of buffalo sauce in the crockpot and didn't need to add extra after...it was soupy enough. I put blue cheese dressing on my sandwich to "cool" it down.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
Very good! I used pre-cut broccoli, left out the onions, 3 packets of splenda instead of sugar and fat free mayo. I waited to mix in the bacon and sunflower seeds before serving so that they stayed crunchy. It turned out great!

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
So good....skipped the vegetable oil and used cooking spray instead, skipped the onion because I didn't have one, and used Famous Dave's original BBQ sauce. Cooked on low for 10 hours and it turned out great!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
I did not care for this cake. I followed the advise of beating the butter and sugar for 10 minutes and I added extra milk. It came out looking like cornbread and having the same texture kind of crumbly texture. The egg yolks also made it really yellow. While it tasted fine, it was not what I think of as white cake.

Savory Tater Tot Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
This is really good. I used ground turkey and cooked it in a skillet with a little garlic and onion powder. I skipped the onion and mixed the turkey, veggies and soup together (I used 2 cans of Healthy Request Cream of Chicken) and topped that with the tots. I baked it for 40 minutes since the meat was already cooked. It came out great! I'll for sure be making it again!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
This came out pretty good. I cooked it as written with the foil except that I only cooked it for 8 hours on low. It was a little dry so I might cut that time down a bit for my slow cooker.

Mushroom Slow Cooker Roast Beef

What a great, easy recipe! I used a beef roast and dark beer and it was fabulous! I served it over mashed potatoes.

Smokin' Scovilles Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
It was kind of watery and had too much meat. I prefer my chili thicker. I didn't think the hot chocolate really added anything either. However, I liked the spice combo.

Cottage Cheese Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
This tasted ok but looked kind of gross. I layered the corn tortillas like a lasagna because they were falling apart. I think I will use flour tortillas if I make it again. I did like all the cheeziness from the cottage cheese (I used 1%) and the shredded cheese (again used reduced fat) though.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
This was pretty good but not as fabulous as I had hoped because my rice was kind of mushy even though it was cold when I made the dish. I did use brown rice though so maybe that is why. I also included a red bell pepper and some peas and excluded the onion and black pepper.

Lemon Poppy Seed Amish Friendship Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
Very good! I used all applesauce instead of oil, SF FF lemon pudding, left out the cinnamon, 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of lemon extract, added lemon zest from 2 lemons, and glazed after cool with a lemon juice/powdered sugar mix. It made 24 muffins in 25 minutes. Very lemony and delicious!

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This bread was super easy and quick to make and it turned out sooo good! I messed up and added 3 TBS of olive oil to the dough (instead of just one of vegetable) but it still turned out good. I just didn't brush it with oil or use cheese before I baked it. I also used half wheat flour and the bread was still very soft. I didn't have any problems with the bread rising without proofing the yeast. Great Recipe! I'll definitely make this again (but I won't mess up on the oil next time).
