Basic Flaky Pie Crust

I followed other's suggestions, and this tastes great. I don't have shortening on hand usually, so I use butter instead of shortening. I also use the food processor to mix. It turns out fantastic. I use it for pot pies and quiche, too. If I make a pie, this is the recipe I will use.

Tomato and Bread Soup

I just made this and had to come back to review. A+ for quick and delish! So easy. I didn't have any fresh garlic and it was fine without. Did a 4 c of water instead of 6 of veggie broth to have a bit more tomato flavor based on our preference. Veggie broth as we are meatless here.

Fusion Hummus

I LOVED this recipe, and chose it because of the balsamic vinegar in the recipe. I usually do not cook with rosemary, so I was going to add it in the end if it needed something. It was great without it. I also added a tsp of oil to make it a little lighter. Served on ak-mak seasame crackers. YUM! This is my favorite hummus recipe so far!

Baked French Swirl Toast

Made this ahead per the instructions. It took longer to cook (I do have an actual thermometer in the oven to check the temp); I had to add extra time to get the eggs fully cooked. By the time the eggs were done, the top was way to crispy and bordering on burned. It tasted good after working around the crispy top.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

This turned out bitter and dry, but looked lovely. I was drooling with anticipation, until I took a bite. I have to say dark chocolate is my favorite. Took time to cream the butter/sugar. Not sure what happened, but not making again :-( I did downsize the recipe to six servings, so not sure if something was "lost in translation."

Bruschetta II

THIS IS AWESOME!!! I usually don't review recipes, but had to with this one. Made this for a friend's visit, and we both loved it. I made about a third of the recipe, and it was plenty for 8 slices of bread. Because I didn't have enough almonds, I also added pine nuts to the pesto base (half and half ratio). YUM!!!! Will definately make this a ton. Used my hand chopper instead of the clunky blender. Love this recipe!!!!

Pasta with Mock Creamy Tomato Sauce

I agree with leaving out the peppers and substituting tomatoes. Liked the cream sauce idea. I also cooked the mushrooms and onions in 1 cup veggie broth (instead of oil) until most of the liquid was gone. They added a great flavor. Will make again without the peppers. The peppers I had gave it more of a vinegar flavor.

Unbelievably Easy and Delicious Vegetarian Chili

Made this for dinner tonight, and it was excellent. Added hamburger to half (his) and veggie burger to mine (hers.) Made with 14 oz of homeade salsa and 14 oz homeade canned tomatoes. Will make again!
