Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
I'm sure these would have been tasty IF I had known that the cooking process stops after the first simmering process. My beans were not tender as I would have liked. After simmering them the required 1-2 hours (I did 2hrs) they were still a little el dente. I thought they would soften when I baked them. Nope....stayed like little bullets. Next time I'll simmer them longer or better yet, do them in the crock pot.

My husband loved, loved, loved this sandwich. I too added garlic powder instead of salt and also included some bacon. I really didn't measure out any ingredients just eyeballed it. I definatley didn't use a whole package of cream cheese but used equal amts of cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Was waaaay yummy! Thanks for making the ordinary EXTRAordinary.

Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Oh, my this was gooood. My husband couldn't have a conversation with anybody. All he could say was mmmh mmmh. I didn't have any lobster or scallops but I can only imagine this would have made it 6 stars. Oh, and I added a little old bay seasoning. Other than that I made it as written! Again, YUM!

My husband LOVED this even without the walnuts (didn't have any) and the swiss cheese (again, didn't have any) Can't wait to try it when I have ALL the ingredients. Still, giving it 5 stars though! I'll give it 6 when I can make it accordingly!

Made 'em exactly as written. Good and simple base recipe for leftovers. Now I'll make them my own by adding some different seasoning, green onions, some cheese, perhaps?

I am not known for my baking...of anything! And this seemed simple enough even for me. I got lots of compliments. The maple syrup was subtle but so tasty. I did cut back on the butter but only for dietary reasons.

I liked the look of this recipe and thought for sure my kids wouldn't touch it. I didn't care...made it anyway for me. Well, turned out they loved it. They didn't love the leftovers the next day, but I did! I made it exactly minus the salt.
