Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
This was great...made 1/2 a recipe..added corn 'cause that's how we used to have it, cooked macaroni before adding to mixture, didn't have tomato sauce, so I used tomato juice and added 1 T sugar..served goulash over mashed potatoes. Ate it with buttered bread and sliced sharp cheddar cheese. Thanks for the recipe.

Pigs in a Blanket

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2011
Yum! I haven't made these in years and wanted to look up a recipe. Followed directions as written, but set the oven for 375. I'm always looking for a quick/easy supper to make when I get home from work. Served with mustard for dipping, mac & cheese and canned pork & beans that were heated with a little bacon fat, onion & brown sugar.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Took this to work for food day and everyone loved it, especially the dressing. I made it according to the recipe, using organic baby spinach (didn't chop it up) and substituting extra virgin olive oil for the vegetable oil. It was easy to make the dressing the night before, toast the almonds and put in a baggy after they cooled, then combine the spinach, almonds and dried cranberries right before lunch, shake up the dressing and toss everything together!

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
If you're debating about which scone recipe to try, I would definitely recommend this one. I made the cranberry/orange and they were great, but next time I'll snip the craisins into smaller bits. I want to make a pumpkin/nut (no raisins) scone with this recipe. Any suggestions on how to incorporate the canned pumpkin into this recipe? Thanks!

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
I used a 1/4 oz pkg of rapid rise yeast and let the dough rise for 10-15 minutes while I was making the topping, other than that I followed the recipe exactly. Also, they were done baking in 15 minutes. These were easy and fun to make and taste great! Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
Yum! I followed this recipe exactly, except for dipping in flour mix, egg, then flour mix again as suggested by another reviewer. Cooked according to directions and it was crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, with great flavor. I used a cast iron skillet and drained the grease after removing the chicken and most of the "crispies", heated skillet on high, stirred in some flour, then added milk, salt & pepper, and reduced heat to make a yummy white gravy. I'll use this recipe again & again!

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I made one loaf and 8 mini loaves from this recipe (cooked mini loaves approx 32 min). I did use 1/2 oil & 1/2 applesauce and topping as other reviewers recommended (next time I will halve MaryKlaire's topping recipe or try KellyC's). I used pecans instead of walnuts because that's what I had on hand. I'm sure this recipe is great without the topping, too. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks!

Neapolitan Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
I followed the recipe as written, except that I used 4 egg whites instead of 3 eggs to keep the cake white and made it in an angel food cake pan. And, I did have to bake it about 10 minutes longer. When it was sliced, I thought there would be 3 distinct layers of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, but was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful swirl pattern. Instead of pouring the batter, I spooned all 3 layers into the pan. Everyone at work thought the cake was yummy and asked for the recipe. One of the ladies at work made it for a church supper and said there was none left to take back home~everyone loved it. Highly recommend this recipe. It would make a lovely presentation served with sliced neopolitan ice cream!
