Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
Sorry to say, not our favorite. The garlic chile sauce overpowered the green beans and I used less than called for. We are really like spicy foods, but the flavor was just not right in this dish.

Blue Cheese Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
Really nice sauce! Very smooth and creamy and not too overpowering. Even teenage daughter, who doesn't like blue cheese, loved the sauce. Marinated the tenderloin for several hours then seared on the grill and finished off in the oven. The marinade imparted great flavor to the meat. Only alteration to the recipe was adding 4 cloves of garlic to the marinade and chopped chives and fresh cracked pepper to the sauce. Will make many more times, thanks for the recipe!

Roasted Potato Salad with Balsamic-Bacon Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Our new favorite potato salad recipe!!! Served the salad at room temperature and got rave reviews! The only alterations I made were to add a chopped tomato and after I chopped the red onion I cooked it for about a minute in a small amount of water in the microwave to take away the sharpness. Really great and tasty recipe!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
My new "go to" recipe for peach cobbler. I did cut the sugar mixed with the peaches down to 1/4c. Next time I may try using honey instead of sugar mixed with the peaches. Before baking I finished it off with a sprinkle of Sugar in the Raw, really nice touch! Thanks for the recipe, we ate it all in ONE night!

Juicy Peach Crisp

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
Followed the recipe as written, with the exception of adding a touch of honey and vanilla to the peaches and adding some oats to the topping mix. Ended up being more like a praline topping, because it was sooooo juicy. If I make it again, I may try cutting the butter in half and also try adding some sliced almonds to the topping. Was looking for more of a crumble/crisp topping. Still enjoyed the recipe, just not quite what I was looking for.

Sweet Corn Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
Great recipe!!!! I lightened it up a bit by cutting the butter back to 1/3c, using fat free half and half instead of whipping cream (a must for the richness and creamines of the dish), also used less sugar. Used fresh white corn cut off the cob, I think that really added to the flavor. A new staple on "Mexican night" in our house!

Classic Texas Caviar

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2009
Addictive recipe!!!! I omitted the olive oil and added 2 diced avocados and the juice of one lime. Also, used fresh black eyed peas from the farmer's market, just boiled for a few minutes unil soft. Next time I may add another jalapeno. This will be made over and over in my house. Thanks!

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!! I've been searching for the ultimate chocolate chip cookie recipe, and I think I've found it! Love all the nuts! I consider myself a cookie dough connoisseur, and the dough is out of this world! I'm lucky I had enough dough to make any cookies at all! I made giant cookies and they cooked for about 14 minutes on an airbake cookie sheet. Will be making many more times and will play with the chip/nut combinations.

Orange Coconut Salmon

Reviewed: May 5, 2005
Very good and VERY easy! Only had time to marinate for about 2 hours and it still turned out wonderfully. I usually have to tweek recipes to our liking, didn't change a thing with this one. Of course, cooking time depends on how thick your fillets are. Cooked mine for almost 30 minutes. Thanks!

What a great side dish! We really enjoyed this recipe. I did cut the sugar in half, but that was the only alteration. I will be making this for Easter and every other chance I get!! Thanks!

I will take full responsibility for the failure of this recipe........ We ended up throwing the whole thing out. Is is possible for turmeric to go bad? I followed the recipe completely. It was really awful tasting and my husband will USUALLY eat anything! Sorry!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

This cookie recipe has been a favorite in our house for years. It's always requested by family and friends. I usually keep some dough in the freezer so I'm ready to make cookies on a moments notice.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2005
WOW!!!! We are crazy about this dip!! I followed other's suggestions and left out the cheddar cheese, used blue cheese dressing and boiled a few fresh chicken breastes and shredded in the food processor. Also, only used one brick of cream cheese and mixed it all together and heated in the oven. I don't see how you could go wrong with this one, though, if you like buffalo chicken!! Thanks, this will be made over and over in our home!

Garlic Bubble Ring

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2005
Very tasty!! I made garlic bread dough in my bread machine and added fresh, crushed garlic to the melted butter mixture(we love garlic!). Not sure what purpose the egg serves, next time I will make it without...... Didn't like the cooked egg mixed in with the bread. Otherwise, a keeper!

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2005
This is our FAVORITE salad!!!! I wish I could give it more stars! I made it with a rib roast the night my husband got home from Baghdad, it's now a regular at our house!! I don't change a thing except to add more pecans and a little less oil to the dressing. One other tip - mix the dressing ahead of time to let the flavors combine.

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2005
These hamburger buns were great!! Very tasty, soft and easy. I put all the ingredients in my Kitchen Aid and let it do all the kneading. The only variation was that I had to let them rise for over an hour. Next time I will add some seeds or dried onions to the tops of these buns.

What a wonderful hummus recipe! The color is beautiful, making it a great dip for company. I doubled the reciped due to the great reviews, boy, am I glad I did!! I love hummus, and this is my new favorite! Thanks!

Very tasty and hearty salad. I chopped all of the vegetables in advance (adding tomatoes) and marinated them ALL in the dressing and tossed with lettuce right before serving. I will be making this salad again!

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
Great recipe! My husband, who is not a huge fan of Indian food, LOVED it! I was too lazy to try to track down garam masala, so I searched for it online. Found several recipes, so you can make your own garam masala spice mix from spices you probably already have! Turned out wonderfully!
