About this Cook
I enjoy cooking and watching people enjoy my food. I took two years of Food and Nutrition and another two years of Culinary Arts. But I didn't pursue that route, since I realized that I enjoy cooking foods that people may consider not good for you. Let's say my favorite cook is Paula Deen :). I also realized that as much as I like cooking, I enjoy my holidays and weekends. Being a Chef, you lose all that. BUT, I guess the satisfaction would be seeing all the people enjoy your food.
My favorite things to cook
I use to love to cook Italian food, but I have fallen in love with Southern cooking. I also like trying unique types of desserts that people just go aaahhh.. mmmmm....
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmmm, I got to think about this one..hmmm...I better hurry up an think of starting a tradition, I'm not getting any younger.

Supreme Pork Chops
Wow thanks, I never made this in the oven, I always cook it in a frying pan. I tried it in the oven, though it didn't get brown like I was use to, the flavor was still there and probably so much healthier than frying. The only difference in my recipe is that I mix the 1/4 Cup Ketchup and 1/4 cup water (more if you want more sauce). If usually brown the chops first then put the lemon and onion slice, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and pour the sauce over it. Cover and cook for one hour. I like your recipe though, so much easier and healthier.

Candied Yams
Best thing to do is make this a night before. I boil my yams (not sweet potato) cut into bite size pieces, put brown sugar on top or layer if you have lots of yams (don't put butter or marshmallow yet). Cover and put it in the refrigerator overnight. When ready to cook, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour out tip the pan and pour out the extra sauce. Add just alittle more brown sugar, not much, dot with butter and top with the mini marshmallows. Bake uncover for about 1 hour. It will come out like you soaked the yams in syrup and it won't be so runny. Often times people think I used canned yams. Lori's recipe is the way I use to make it 15 years ago. Quick, easy, and tasty but lots of sauce

Golden Rum Cake
Just like the Rum Cake in the Caribbeans. I made it in a regular size bundt pan and then made another batch in the miniture bundt pans. It made one dozen and it came out excellent. I gave it as gifts. When you use the miniture pans, it only takes about 30 minutes to cook. I also took them out and put the rum in the pan and replaced the cake back in the pan. I then poke holes with a toothpick and poured more rum on top. I wish I had made the miniture ones earlier. I would have gave more of the cake as gifts, they were excellent and looked good. Thanks for the recipe. This is definately a keeper. Oh also better the next day or two. Some how the alcohol doesn't seem so intense.
