White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2007
Five stars just doesn't do this recipe justice! As fast as these were made, they were gone! My cookies didn't look like the picture, but actually looked just like the ones you'd find at Subway. And tasted just as good, if not better! I didn't change much, just omitted the salt and used unsalted butter. I'm also not sure if I used the same amount of chips and nuts, because I just used an 8 ounce bag mix of the two from Hershey's, which was perfect. Otherwise, I did everything as the recipe calls for. I agree to take them out when they become slightly golden brown on the edges. When I took them out of the oven after 9 minutes, I let the heat from the cookie sheet cook it the rest of the way and they finished cooking perfectly. Absolutely divine and definitely a keeper! Yummy!

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
Simply delicious!! Poking holes in the potatoes, adding the olive oil over the skin, and sprinkling some kosher salt on top is definitely the way I'm going to make all our baked potatoes from now on (with all our typical add-ins, not what the recipe calls for)! I always ate the skins before, but not because I thought they tasted good or anything. However, the skins are worth eating with this recipe!! I did change the temperature of the oven to anywhere between 350 to 400 degrees (depending if I'm making something else or what not) and they are always done in about 60 minutes. Definitely worth trying, as I doubt you will be disappointed!! :)

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
This gravy was great! I was able to get about 4 1/2 cups of turkey drippings from our 21 pound turkey, but I still used the same amount of ingredients the recipe calls for (maybe a little more flour) and the gravy came out delicious! The only thing I changed specifically was the poultry seasoning for chicken seasoning, because that's all I had. Will have to try this with chicken broth, as others have suggested. The cream of chicken is a wonderful addition! Thanks for the great recipe!

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
I made this recipe exactly 'as is' and I'm disappointed that all the four and five star ratings didn't meet my family's expectations of this. In our opinion, this recipe was lacking in the sauce and could have used an extra 6 oz can or two of tomato paste (with added water), or perhaps tomato sauce. I also would exclude the sugar and add a few other seasonings instead. Overall, it was too dry for our taste, as we prefer a bright 'red look' to our lasagna, thus a lot of more sauce than what this recipe offers. Just our personal preference.

Guilt-Free Mac 'n' Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
My family loved this dish! I made a few changes that probably didn't help on the 'guilt-free' purpose of this recipe, but still, it was great! Instead of Parmasean cheese, I used Kraft Mexican shredded cheese, low-fat Velvetta cheese for the cheddar cheese, and a mix of onion powder and dried onion for the fresh onion. I also used about double (or a little more, didn't measure exactly) the Velvetta for the cheddar cheese it calls for. With that said, I did everything else exactly and it turned out fantastic! Also, our family doesn't like Mac 'N' Cheese as leftovers, but we re-heated this by adding some milk and it actually tasted better the next day. :) Definitely cut the recipe in half, though, if you're feeding a smaller bunch, because a little of this fills you up quick, at least with how I made it with extra cheese. Overall, a wonderful recipe, especially if you're looking to sneak in healthy when feeding yourself and others, without compromising taste! Thank you for the wonderful recipe! :) It's a keeper!

Beef Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
I made this recipe exactly as it. I give it a two star only because my three year old ate it without complaint, but otherwise, no one else in my family enjoyed this meal and would have given it a one star for 'edible'. Everything looked great until it came out of the oven. All the juices were gone and it was both dry in its taste and appearance. It may have been better eaten without being placed in the oven for 30 minutes. Something is missing in this recipe or the instructions need to be changed, but as is, it was not enjoyed by my family.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
I made the recipe exactly as is, except with about three large ripe bananas for the one cup it calls for. I did, however, drop the temperature down to 350 degrees and baked for about 18-20 minutes (I made them large and added more banana). They turned out wonderful! They have a beautiful light color, with slightly brown edges, and taste just as delicious as they look! Very moist, as well, and taste better the day after! Our family loves them! :)

Comforting Cube Steaks

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
I followed the recipe exactly, except I omitted the Cajun seasoning, but our family didn't enjoy this recipe. As some others have said, it was too salty(even when using low-sodium) and I also believe the lemon-lime beverage was not a good addition, because I've used the other ingredients together in other dishes, which are family favorites around here. So, for us, I believe the lemon-lime beverage (we used Sprite) is what turned our taste buds off. I'm glad others were able to enjoy this dish, though. :)

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
I'm not a fan of canned chicken noodle soup, because my mother always made us yummy homemade chicken noodle. My mother passed away when I was young and so I could never find the recipe she used with the *frozen* egg wide noodles (I prefer the frozen ones) until I came across this recipe!! This nearly tastes just like my mother's, except the way I make it is slightly different, as my mother did. Instead of using a saucepan or Dutch oven, I use the crock pot for those ingredients to cook all day. However, I use organic chicken broth, a couple cubes of chicken bouillon, a package of chicken tenders (whole, not diced, as they will shred nicely for you at the end of the day), chopped carrots/celery, and a little onion powder in place of the strong taste of regular onions. When it's time for dinner, I follow the first and third part of the directions exactly, except it's added to the crock pot, of course. I let it heat through for about five or ten minutes and serve with crackers. I'm so thrilled to have ran across this recipe, as it tastes a lot like my mother's! Mmmmm, delicious! Perfect for all sorts of occasions! My family loves it! Thank you so much, Corwynn!!

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
This has been my 'signature' recipe for our mashed potatoes since Thanksgiving 2002!! I always get raves about them. My husband won't let me make our mashed potatoes any other way, because he says, 'nothing compares'! The 'signature' really boils down to the cream cheese, because many mashed potato recipes are made with the other ingredients, but the cream cheese really sets these apart from all others! However, I do make it slightly different from what the recipe calls for. I also add a little skim milk to it, as well as use fat-free cream cheese and sour cream, and interchange using onion powder one time and garlic powder the next, just for variety. And, of course, the measurements of the ingredients are never the same each time, so I put a little in of everything until it's just right, smooth and creamy. I've never made these potatoes the 'day before', but serve right away. However, I always make enough for leftovers and they're delicious cold or hot the next day! Give these a try, you won't be disappointed! :) Thank you so much, Erin, for the wonderful recipe!

Pumpkin Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
I followed the recipe exactly, except I omitted the salt and nuts. As others have said, this is a very moist and delicious cake. The cake also tastes better the day after it has baked. A cream cheese type icing would go great drizzled over this cake! We ate the cake with a side of French Vanilla ice cream, which tasted great with it! Will make again! Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

Rosemary Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2005
I haven't had meatloaf in a very long time and was excited to make it again. I've never made it with ground turkey, but I was willing to give it a shot. I must say, I was disappointed in the results. I followed the recipe step-by-step and the outcome was not as anticipated. As many reviews said, the dish was very moist, which is great, but there was something missing. It needed more of something and I wish I could pinpoint what. Glad many others were able to enjoy this dish, but I think I'll stick with good old fashion (lean) hamburger meatloaf.
