Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
This was delicious. I didn't chop up the onions (feeling lazy) or celery (none of us like it), but followed the rest of the recipe. We loved the taste and how quick it cooked up, so this is a keeper. Thank you!

Chili Rick's

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I made this for a large group of people coming over and they all loved it! The only thing I really did different was that I used only half a bottle of the hickory sauce and added a 1/4c of brown sugar instead. (A full bottle would have been way too sweet in our opinion, so I'm glad I took the advice of others on that one). I also let it cook ALL day (a good 10 hours at least), which made a HUGE difference. I tasted it throughout the day and by nights end, it tasted great compared to just four or six hours of cooking. Chocolate seemed to make a delicious difference in the outcome of this recipe. A wonderful mix of spice and sweetness. :) I cooked this up with a side of Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread (also from this site), which was an excellent recipe to go with it. The chili that was left (this makes a lot), I put in a food saver bag and froze to eat at a later date. Freezes well. **Also, one person in our group doesn't eat pork, so I made them a small side of this without the sausage and instead sliced up some beef sausage. To be honest, I would have sliced up some more beef sausage into the main pot if I had known how good it would have tasted! So next time I will! It was delicious!** Thanks for the excellent chili recipe!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
This was delicious cornbread! I had to make a few changes, because of what I had. I didn't use buttermilk, because I didn't have any. So I did the buttermilk substitute of milk/lemon juice (for every one cup of milk, use about two tablespoons less of milk and mix in two tablespoons of lemon juice instead). Let it sit for a few minutes while it foamed and then poured it in. Also, the company I was having over who would delight in this dish, wanted creamed corn in it, so without changing any ingredients around, I simply poured in a can of creamed corn and let it cook longer until it was set. My company loved it and so did we! Thank you for such a great recipe! It's a keeper! *I made this cornbread with Chili Rick's (from this site) and it was delicious together.*

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
Simple and good! I omitted the white wine and used spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce and paste. Will make again, thanks!

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
This was certainly easy to make, but cheesy? Our household loves cheese, so we expect something to truly be cheesy if it says it in the title. I was sick the night this was made, so I had my husband make it. He would have made it exactly as written. Had I seen the ingredients, I would have known it wouldn't be cheesy, but oh well. :) It was good, but a little bland. Thanks, anyhow!

Chicken Spaghetti II

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
We didn't care for this recipe at all. :( I had high hopes for it with all the rave reviews. We make simple cheese dip with Velvetta and Rotel, but we'd rather of made that and poured it on top. However, we won't do that either, because the sauce with the spaghetti simply wasn't tasty. We'll stick with good old fashion spaghetti. Thanks anyways!

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
I made this a long while ago and never rated it. It was good the way it is, but I agree with those who said it was little bland. Perhaps with some seasonings, this would have been a four or five star! Or possibly just changing the bacon to seasoned sausage of whatever kind you like. It was good, but definitely could use a few seasonings for taste. :)
