My mom thinks it's a big deal that I made a whole turkey dinner by myself at age 12 when she was away from home for the day.
My cooking tragedies
As I mentioned, BAKING is more my thing than other cooking methods. One day, my sisters and I decided we'd make a big feast for no particular reason. I wanted to smoke ribs, so I got a recipe and got everything together, got the woodchips for smoking, read the directions, and got everything going. Once the ribs were on(and they were supposed to slow-smoke for several hours), we left for a bit. When we returned, I opened the grill to find a RAGING fire inside: there was nothing left of the ribs but charred bones. All I can say is when the directions on the woodchips say soak, wrap in foil, poke holes, set on top of charcoal fire- the wet woodchips still catch fire when they're set ON TOP of the burning charcoal. Duh. At least now I know not to follow THOSE directions.

Blueberry 'S' Pie
I used fresh blueberries and it was delightful! I sprinkled 2 T sugar & 1 T flour over the berries before I put the topping on (as one reviewer suggested doing if using fresh berries). Be sure the bottom crust is done- the top of mine looked nice and browned, but the bottom still had about 10 mins. to go- I baked for all of 50 mins. Ate warm with ice cream.........dangerously good!

Mound Bars
YUM! I didn't even bother to mix the coconut & condensed milk- I just sprinkled the coconut over the crust and drizzled the milk over the top. As for the chocolate chips, if you sprinkle them on immediately after the bars come out of the oven, they will melt right on top and then you just spread them around.

Broccoli Pie
This tasted good...but there's too much milk in it. When I took it out of the oven, the pan tilted a little and milk came draining out of the top. I just tipped it over the sink and drained off the excess, but if I make it again, I would use probably half the milk called for. Sharp cheddar cheese was good in it.
