Deep-Dish Cast Iron Pizza

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2012
I made two of these pizzas. On the first one, I used the full amount of dough in my large cast iron skillet. On the second pizza, I used about 2/3 of the dough. I found that both pizzas had too much dough for our tastes. I will make it again, but make two pizzas with one recipe of the dough, and I believe that we will STILL have deep dish pizzas. The taste is good; I love the texture that the cast iron brings to the crust. Good recipe...you just have to love a tremendous amount of crust/dough in order for this recipe to be exactly for you! Ours turned out way thicker than the picture shown. I will try to upload the picture of our first pizza. Thx for the recipe!

Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac 'n Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
We tried this tonight! It was yummy! I used finely diced yellow bell pepper, and put it into the cheese sauce while it was cooking. So when it was cooked for 20 min in the oven and then served, no one could even tell that there was any vegetable in the dish. I cooked thick cut bacon to use in the dish...used about 6 slices, cooked well done and chopped. I cooked the pasta dish for 15 min, then I mixed in the bacon, topped it with Panko and parmesan cheese, and broiled it for 3-4 min, until lightly brown and crunchy. The Progresso starter is a new product, I think, b/c I had trouble finding it in the grocery store. I had to ask for help from an employee to find it, and I know my store pretty well!

Fiery Fish Tacos with Crunchy Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
These tacos are amazing! We just melt cheese on the corn tortillas...in the oven on broil. They soften up and then you don't have to mess with the oil...less time consuming. You have to try these...they belong on a mobile taco truck!

Cherry Limeade I

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
Four stars as written. Five stars with the extra bottle of lemon-lime soda. Pretty tart otherwise. Just be prepared with an extra bottle of soda, or you might be disappointed. To our family, it was perfect with two. Will definitely make again...yummy!

Pizza Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2011
DO NOT BAKE. I hate frying things, so when I read an earlier review that said you could bake them with good results, I decided to try the recipe. Everything went well until I baked them. The filling started baking out almost immediately. I turned them over and baked a couple more minutes (after 5 min on the first side) and then took them out before ALL of the filling was cooked out! They still tasted great...they were just a terrible mess and the shell wasn't crispy. Will try again when I feel like frying something (rarely, but still). Giving 5 stars based on taste. It was my fault that they didn't turn out great since I didn't follow recipe in frying them! The filling tasted the same, if not better, than store bought!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
5 stars on taste! I did have problems with the directions to roll them 3 feet long. When I did this, I ended up with thin, large pretzels that overcooked in 8 min. I would suggest only about 2 feet long to end up with a more appropriate-sized pretzel that takes about 6-8 min to cook. I will probably make these again this weekend, b/c they are delicious and my family is EASILY going to eat all of these tonight. I topped this batch in cinnamon-sugar, salt, and garlic salt, respectively. Each were delicious, but cinnamon sugar was our least favorite. We bought canned nacho cheese sauce to dip our salty pretzels in and it is just SO yummy! Hubby has already requested that I wrap some pretzel dough around a jalapeno cheese dog when I make the next batch!

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
This is a staple in our home! The very first time I made it, I added all of the 'heat' and only my husband loved it. Now I make it regularly without the cayenne pepper or jalapenos or hot sauce and the whole family enjoys it (kids too)! I actually use this recipe for my pinto beans too (add a ham hock) and they are delicious this way! Thanks for the recipe.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2012
I made this quiche tonight (2 of them...the full serving). The flavor was great. However, it took a long! time to prepare (way longer than 15 min) and it was quite moist, even after an additional 20 of baking the second pie. Next time I will leave out the sour cream b/c I feel it's unnecessary for the flavor and contributes to too much moisture. (And I did drain my spinach well.) But I will make it again...flavor was very good.

Spicy Peach-Glazed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
We love these pork chops. We use chicken broth in place of the wine. I also finish my chops in the oven, instead of in the pan that I fried them in. Easy, delicious recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
The Novelty of this recipe gets 5 stars; preschoolers at my son's school loved it. The taste, however, gets 3 stars. It's just like eating pudding and oreos. Good, but very normal...nothing spectacular.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2007
Gave four stars cause I'm new to baking and it was a lot of work. Tastes great, though. Beginners, BEWARE: this recipe makes enough to feed the entire neighborhood! I split the batter in half and added nuts to one and chocolate chips to the other. (Kids are allergic to nuts)

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2012
Made this for the first time this morning and we ate it on pancakes. Definitely more of a sauce than a syrup, so this would be perfect on cheesecake. We really liked it (even as thick as it was) on our pancakes! Everyone in my family said it was delicious!

Gourmet Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
I added italian seasoning, garlic powder, bacon, and a little parmesan and romano cheeses. I didn't bother to precook my dough, and it took about 15 min on a cookie sheet, and even less time for the one cooked on the pizza pan. Husband, myself and 3 kids loved it. It was delicious!
