About this Cook
Trying new recipes is what keeps me cooking!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to eat are sweets, so I like to cook them. But I actually prepare more new entrees because we eat (barely) more dinners than we do sweets!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking traditions go along with the seasons: macaroni and cheese at Thanksgiving; jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese in the summer; cinnamon rolls, breakfast casseroles, and cookies at Christmas; ham at Easter...the list goes on and on!
My cooking triumphs
Any dish I make that makes my husband stop and say, "This is amazing. Can you make this again tomorrow?" is a triumph for me. He's a bit spoiled, so I don't hear it too often; but when I do hear it...makes my day!
My cooking tragedies
I don't consider myself a true chef/cook, meaning I MUST follow a recipe, or tragedies happen. I have two tragedies that stand out. I once made (and served to company) a lemon chicken, that was completely OVERPOWERED by lemon and was disgusting! So sad! The other major goof was a meatloaf where my mother had told me what to put in it, but not the amounts of the ingredients. The meatloaf was overpowered by green bell pepper and was just terrible...not even edible!

Clark's Quiche
I made this quiche tonight (2 of them...the full serving). The flavor was great. However, it took a long! time to prepare (way longer than 15 min) and it was quite moist, even after an additional 20 of baking the second pie. Next time I will leave out the sour cream b/c I feel it's unnecessary for the flavor and contributes to too much moisture. (And I did drain my spinach well.) But I will make it again...flavor was very good.
