Butter Bean Burgers

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
Awesome! My family is not vegetarian - but we LOVED this recipe. I thought they were better than regular hamburgers. My husband said that he "wouldn't go that far" - but that he really thought they were tasty and wants me to make them again and again. He even passed the recipe on to one of his buddies at work. This is a must try! I followed the recipe as written - except I used pickled jalapenos and added some bread crumbs as needed to help the patties stay together.

Green Banana Fries

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
Yummy! We loved these fries - especially the kids. I fried them in peanut oil and sprinkled with salt. Then, served them with Ranch dressing for dipping. Very different and a nice change of pace from potato fries.

Honey Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
Very simple and delicious. Versatile, too - as you can make it with either Dijon-style or yellow mustard, depending on what you are in the mood for. Great for using as a dip, salad dressing or marinade. Definitely a keeper!

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
Awesome! My family loved these tasty burritos. The meat was not at all missed and it made for a nice change of pace. I used pickled jalapeno slices (chopped) instead of a fresh one. I also mixed in some yellow and orange peppers along with the red one to make it more colorful (after tripling the recipe to feed my brood). Yummy!

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
Fantastic. We marinated our rib-eye steaks overnight and they came out wonderfully. Definitely a taste of garlic and quite rich. A little tang, too! Very good, will be using again and again.

Grilled Chicken with Herbs

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2007
Superb marinade for chicken. After sitting overnight, my husband grilled the breasts to perfection. They really explode with flavor. The combination of herbs is just right and leaves a memorable impression. Loved it!

Grilled Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
AWESOME! I had no idea that wings could be so good off the grill. This recipe is definitely a keeper - and we can't wait to make them again. Perfectly written instructions - and incredible as is. You must try this one.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
Incredible! I made four batches to give as gifts and have around the house. Every batch of toffee came out great. I never did make it up to 285 degrees on my brand new candy thermometer. I have to wonder if relying just on the thermometer determines one's success with this recipe. I just took it off the heat when the color looked right and forgot about trying to reach the correct temperature. Will purchase a different thermometer and see what happens next time. Anyway, one batch did separate from the chocolate after it cooled - and that was a disappointment. But, it still tasted great and the other three stayed in tact. All in all a success - and I will definitely be making this again.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
We are not bakers around here - but these are pretty fool-proof. My husband actually made them last night with the help of our bread machine - I only stepped in to assist in rolling them up. He did great! These are delicious - soft, chewy, buttery yeast rolls that are just slightly sweet, I think. Give them a try!

Creamy Banana Lettuce Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
Yum! Couldn't be better. I was trying to find a recipe for the simple banana salad my grandmother used to make - consisting of only lettuce, bananas, sugar and mayonnaise with paprika sprinkled on top (I think that's it). But, I found this one instead and couldn't be happier. It makes a much prettier presentation - and the strawberries really add some nice tang. Excellent!

Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Yum! Adding this one to the permanent recipe folder, for sure. It was excellent - the whole family enjoyed it...kiddies and all. Cheesy, creamy and flavorful. I love how soft the tortillas came out - they almost melt in your mouth. The strong presence of the cilantro really made this dish special. Thanks for sharing!

Crunchy Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
I've been making this salad for years when I want something special and different. My family loves it - even those who are not big salad eaters. Kids gobble it up because it doesn't have any "icky" veggies in it! The crunchy toppings mixed with the sweet dressing is super yummy.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
Yum-o! We let the chicken marinate for about 24 hours before putting it on the grill. It was super tasty. Sweet and tangy. The kids loved it - and so did the adults. Definitely a keeper.

Pork Chops with Vinegar

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Outstanding. I love vinegar, but even my husband (who does not like it as much as me because he had to clean with it as a child!) loved this dish. The vinegar is not too overpowering - just very mellow. The anchovy roux is delicious - and I've never considered myself a fan of them. I was really surprised by how much we liked this dish. Can't say enough about it. A must try for everyone who comes across it!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
Awesome recipe! So quick to put together, too. Just what I was looking for. Be sure to use a brand/flavor of barbecue sauce that you are familiar with and like. I tried something new - and I was missing the honey from my regular brand. Thanks for sharing this! Will make again and again.

I'm not crazy about cooking with the microwave, but this recipe was really delicious. And fast to the table! Buttery and sweet... delicious! It really hit the spot on a cold wintry day.
