The Best Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
Out of all of the vegetarian meals we've eaten, this was the only one we didn't like. None of us liked it and my daughter couldn't even finish hers. We won't even try to alter it to make it okay.

New Orleans Corn Bisque with Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
We were amazed at how delicious this is! And very economical! I just ate some of the leftovers, and they were even better. My 10 year old hates soup (yet eats anything else under the sun) went back for 2nds. Yum!

Spinach Dip with Water Chestnuts

My mother made this for Easter. I ate way too much of it! She's not a great cook, but this was marvelous! Thanks for the great recipe!

Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Yowsers! I made 3 desserts for Easter. This was by far the favorite. Everyone's watching their weight, but they were all willing to splurge on calories for this one. When the end of the night came, they all wanted to take some of this one home, but none of the other desserts. Even my sister, who hates anything rich or sugary, loved this one! Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Coconut Rice

Yummy! This was great! It was a nice change from regular rice. It complimented our spicy chicken really well. Thanks for the recipe. It has been added to my recipe book.

Italian Cream Soda

I had some of mine curdle, and some not. I used different flavors for each. I think some of the syrups may have been old, and that's what caused the curdling, but I'm not sure. They all tasted good, but it was hard to get your mind past the curdling. The one that didn't curdle was great!

Maple Bacon Pancake

My kids love this recipe. It is hands-down one of their favorites. They ask me to make it all the time. We've tried it with sausage (they love maple sausage!). Thanks for the great recipes.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
I've used the Crisco recipe for years, and they've always been a huge hit. Everyone I served these to loved them. I used holiday chips (red & white and green & white swirls). The recipe says "spoonfulls" in reference to how big to make the cookies. I didn't know what size spoon it meant so I tried different sizes. Bigger is definately better! My kids told me that I shouldn't bother keeping my old recipe anymore. Thanks for the great recipe!

Candied Grapefruit Peel

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Did I do something wrong? This took 9 hours, start to finish. I wasn't working that whole time, but I was amazed at how long it took. Plus, I don't know if I was supposed to get all the pith off or not, so I did. That took an hour alone, and it killed my wrists and wasted some of the peel. Is there an easy way to do that? When it was finally done, my kids said it was "weird." I thought the taste was okay. It made very little, considering all the work I did for it. I will not do this recipe ever again, unless easier instructions are included.

Sunday Gumbo

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
I felt like I was doing something good for myself while I was eating this! I used low-fat, low-sodium broth, turkey sausage, and olive oil. It was so yummy! I've never had gumbo, but this was really good. I also liked that I didn't have to fuss with a roux. The chicken broth was so easy! Since I can't handle hot things, I only used 1/8th teaspoon of cayenne. It wasn't quite enough. FYI--(in case you, like me, don't know) Cayenne is also called red pepper.

Apple Cranberry Salad Toss

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
I am a dinner salad type of gal. Give me a tomato, some cucumber, crutons, and dressing and I'm happy. I usually get nervous with fruit in my salad. This one was so great! I took it to a pot luck and we all loved it. I'm going to make it for my next family get together. SinceI was making it early, I dropped the sliced apples into a ziplock with a couple teaspoons of lemon juice and shook. My apples stayed crisp and the right color.

Chocolate Barbeque Grill Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2001
This cake was so much fun! I made it for my husband's birthday, so I added a can of frosting to it before I decorated it. I used fat free yogurt instead of the sour cream. I also used chocolate chips instead of the peanut butter ones. It turned out really well. I found a candy that you can form into any shape, so I made shrimp, cherry tomatoes, and green pepper wedges. It was really cute! Thanks for the great idea!
