Applesauce Oat Cake

I made this super easy cake and everyone really enjoyed it with a cup of hot tea. Good little cake that's made of wholesome ingredients (I did reduce the sugar and add a bit of splenda). I did not ice it in order to keep the fat and sugar content down; it was still tasty and I would make this again.

Granola Bars II

Great outcome! This was precisely what I was looking for. Using other readers' reviews I made sure to melt the liquid ingredients first (stovetop). Used only 1/2 cup sugar mixed with some splenda, and only used half cup butter filling the rest with unsweetened apple sauce and some pure organic coconut butter. I did put more than double the cinnamon because my family loves it, added some nutmeg too. To the dry ingredients I added half a cup organic Soy flour to keep things stuck together. Once I had my wet ingredients in a sauce, I poured over the dry ones (mix well if you mix this by hand, all the dry stuff needs to stick together in the end). I added goodies to my bars: pumpkin + sunflower+ flax seeds, walnuts and sesame as well as some gourmet dark chocolate chunks. Pressed the mixture tightly into a glass baking dish, baked 10 minutes, removed and cut, then baked another 10 minutes. PERFECT!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

These come out perfect every time and there is no way to keep your hands off their buttery tasty texture. It's one of my all time favorites and a must-have recipe for occasions like brunches or as a tea-time treat.

Soft Chocolate Cookies

I made these chocolate cookies into "Cappuccino" cookies by adding some instant coffee to the creamed butter and sugar mix. I also went ahead with my usual replacement of halving the butter and replacing with apple sauce to reduce fat. Works beautifully and what a tasty and versatile recipe this is. I baked on ungreased cookie sheets as indicated and they turned out perfect. Great recipe, I will be making these often, enjoying a different twist each time.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Very cool recipe! I made my usual replacements on this, using eggwhites instead of whole eggs and replacing butter and oil with apple sauce + oil mixes. It worked just fine. I also made 2 batches of the recipe - 1 with yellow cake mix, the other with devil's food mix. The darker mix came out with the white cookies dough in the middle and gave it a better look. I did not ice and they were still very yummy. Will definitely make these again!

Texas Coleslaw

I love this slaw. It's tasty and tangy and just different. One may want to consider the fact that there are a few savory spices in this recipe, so if black pepper makes you sweat, this is maube not the best choice. If you like spicy, tangy - you'll make this salad again and again for the taste and the crunch.

Italian Confetti Pasta Salad

At first I sort of doubted this was going to be that great. I decided to make this anyway for a Mother's day gathering. Made it the night before, this salad ended up being SO tasty that we all kepts eating it and I even took it to work as lunch for 2 days straight. A large batch was gone in no time. Adjust the tastes to your liking when it comes to salt and herbs - either way this recipe was great!

Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies

Excellent cookies, I just made them. Easy to make, simple ingredients and SO yummy, perfectly moist and don't overly spread out on the sheet. I will make these again soon because I know they won't last the weekend!

Apple Pecan Cobbler

I really love this recipe. So easy and simple and even a little forgiving (I used regular milk and walnuts instead of pecans) and it came out simply delicious and perfectly right on all quantities (sweet enough as is!). The bottom does come appart so I am plannig to make some crust for the bottom, lay the apples and top as per recipe. Otherwise, I would totally make this again!

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Great little cake! I followed advice from others for lowering heat but mostly made it as is. I added lemon zest, lemon essence, white chocolate chips and yellow food colouring. I baked it in a silicone dish and then I also glazed it with a lemon glaze - Everyone keeps asking for more! My next twist will be oranges and bittersweet chocolate chips. YUM!

Swiss Chard with Garbanzo Beans and Fresh Tomatoes

What a great way to put swiss chard and garbanzo beans together. I came home with these 2 ingredients and love this recipe. I did add more onion and garlic because I love those but I twisted it with cumin, now it has a Moroccan flavour to it and it is DELICIOUS. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Light Oat Bread

I don't have a bread machine, but I was impressed with how easy it was to make this bread. Like other cooks did, I prepared the dry ingredients and mixed the wet ones separately, then kneaded the dough for at least 10 minutes. Once the first leavening took place, I punched it down and added herbs and onion, then let it sit again for another 30 minutes. I baked as per the instructions and It ended up as a savoury herb and onion oat bread. I also agree that the crust was ever so tasty when the bread is warm or cold. I will surely be keeping this recipe for anytime I feel like making homemade bread! Thanks for sharing.

Banana Banana Bread

I like it, it is nice. I did not give it 5 stars because it was not as soft as I would have liked it to be. It is more a real LOAF, as in "bready" if you ask me. I even added walnuts and some chocolate chips. It was good when warm and my boyfriend even loves it right out of the fridge. All in all a very good recipe and SO EASY!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

This recipe was good. I made it the way it is but I ALWAYS replace my butter by half corn/grapeseed oil and half apple sauce. The recipe held together great. I added white chocolate chips and some nuts and it is GREAT. If you like the spicy flave of those type of recipes- add a bit more cinnamon. YUM!

Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

I must add to the already astounding amount of great reviews for this cake. It was HEAVENLY. Very chocolaty, so moist and yummy- EVERYBODY loved it and wanted more. I love frosting but this totally did not need frosting. Added shaved hazelnuts and crushed pecans to my mix and that made it even better. WOW! I will definitely make this cake every time I think of a chocolate cake that is sure to please. It was gone within a day!

Chocolate Caramel Brownies

Oh my gosh! These are amazing! Totally the best ever- there is no question about it. They are so good I think I will make a btach and sell them to a local coffee-shop. I think more brownie-lovers MUST enjoy the bliss! I added shredded hazelnuts yo the mix along with the pecans, and it made it even yummier is a delicate way. Thanks Barbara Hodge! You made my weekend!
