Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Good, with the addition of a few spices. I added an oregano/garlic blend- perhaps 1 1/2 tsp.

Bland, even after adding garlic powder, onion, and ginger. Won't make again.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
As written four stars but this is very adaptable according to personal taste. It reminded me of traditional ham and beans with a mexican flair! Based on other reviews I pureed one can of white beans and eliminated a can of chicken broth. I used IQF chicken tenders and put them in the crock pot first and then added the remaining ingredients. I eliminated the cumin and peppers to tone it down. & added a can of diced tomatoes. Cooked on high for about five hours. Shredded the chicken and put it back in with about 3 Tbsp. of flour to thicken it up. We love homemade soups and I'll be making this a lot. Thanks for sharing!

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Very good, my family loved them. Only change I made was to cut down on the butter; 2 Tbsp. was plenty. You might be able to use two eggs instead of three. Thanks for sharing, I will keep this recipe.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
Superb-this is restaurant quality! Make this when you want to impress your guests. I did make a few changes to taste. To save calories I used Italian dressing instead of olive oil and I used minced garlic in the jar (about 1/8 tsp.). It came out great. This will go in my Favorite recipe file.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
As written the recipe is four stars, but with the modifications suggested I give it five. I added nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon to the batter and used an electric mixer & they came out great. Next time I will add walnuts and stir the batter by hand to see how they turn out.

BLT Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
One of the few times I give a recipe five stars! It was a quick and delicious summer meal we all enjoyed. Only thing I did different was to use precooked bacon, which cut down on prep time. Thanks for sharing.

Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
I came across this recipe in my All Recipes cookbook and did not take the time to read others' comments as I usually do, but it still came out fine. I cut back on the sugar because the fresh peaches I used were plenty sweet. I used five large peaches and only used about 1 1/2 cups water. The filling ran over a little bit, so next time I will only use 3/4-1 cup of water. For added flavor I sprinkled nutmeg in with the cinnamon. Oh, and if you have trouble peeling peaches here is a tip: Dunk them in boiling water for 30 seconds, let them set for a couple of minutes and the peel comes right off. Try it! Thanks for sharing Jeannette.

Becky's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
Three teenagers voted this as so-so, but my husband liked it. I think it was good, but needed more kick. Next time I will add dill relish, more salt and pepper, and perhaps some minced onion. Thanks for sharing.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 22, 2006
Simply...wonderful. Only change I made was to add a little more ketchup and maybe a half cup of water because we don't like it thick. Teenage sons and husband wolfed this down in no time. Thanks for sharing.

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2006
Just so-so. The blueberries sunk to the bottom, even after coating with flour per recipe directions. They did not have the 'peak" other muffins have. Thanks anyway, but won't make again.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2006
Good but very salty and I used lite soy sauce. Pineapple would be good in it or on top as a garnish. As others suggested, double the sauce and use half to pour over chicken when serving. Can't wait to try over grilled chicken!!

Slow Cooker Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2006
Very good, even with several substitutions. I used smoked sausage instead of ham and russet potatoes and frozen green beans and it smelled wonderful when I came home. Good comfort food; thanks for sharing.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2006
Although the texture was fantastic, it was still missing something-more sugar, I think. Taking others' suggestions, I chilled the bowl and beaters and brought the cream cheese to room temperature. It came out perfect-no lumps and it looked like Cool Whip. I substituted powdered sugar for the white, but next time I will use white and more of it. This has some possibility if you like a light icing.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
With some changes these were very good. I added 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. baking powder and soda and increased the vanilla. Since there are only three of us, I cut the recipe in half. I only had a 1 oz. box of vanilla pudding but it still made a difference-the cookies came out chewy and had a unique flavor. Next time I will try chocolate chunks instead of chips. While they are not my personal favorite, they are unique and would disappear in a heartbeat at a church function. Thanks for sharing.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
A very versatile recipe. I hesitate to rate it because I made so many changes it was more like cream of potato than baked potato soup. When I started making it I realized we would not like it as written because of the high fat content, so I eliminated the sour cream and used chicken broth and half and half instead of 7 cups of milk. I used six slices of bacon and skipped the cheese-we just added it to individual servings. I did let it sit overnight and I think that helped maximize the flavor. Thanks for sharing; I will make my version again!

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
Only changes I made were to use the entire box of spinach and adding chopped green onion. I recommend refrigerating for at least 36 hours before serving; it was even better the second day. A favorite in our book; it will be added to my personal recipe collection!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
We did not care too much for this. I added vegetables and used strips of cresent roll dough and it came out OK but we thought chicken pot pie tasted much better and was quicker.

Libby's® Pumpkin Roll with Cream Cheese Filling

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
Perhaps it was me being tired from too much holiday baking but mine did not turn out well enough to merit five stars. The dough was too moist, which made it hard to work with and not as visually appealing. And the frosting did not taste very good. The icing came out the side when I rolled it up and I didn't even like the taste of the icing. First I will add more flour and spices, maybe liquor, to the batter to improve taste. Then use another frosing recipe and watch how much I coat the cake with. Next time I will try the "Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting" recipe on this site, and perhaps only use half the batch on one roll. Because this is so pretty and has so much potential, I will try it again!
