Don't Knock it Until You Try it Zucchini Chocolate Banana Nut Milkshake

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
My son, who is very picky about food, asked for seconds! I was thrilled that he was getting some zucchini and the added benefits from the banana + peanut butter (instead of nuts) + milk made me feel good that he was getting something good to drink. Only change I will make next time is not to add all the sugar or sub some honey in it's place. My sister made this for her boys after I told her of this zuchinni smoothie recipe and, voila! they drank it down too! Thanks for the recipe, glad I didn't knock it before I tried it!

Pork Loin with Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I decided to cook this in my crockpot and forgot I had an appt after work, so by the time I got home, it was a little overcooked, however, I managed to save it by making gravy and shredding the pork. Served w/baked potatoes and sour cream. Easy enough recipe, I will try the oven version next time to get the "roasted" effect.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
Great flavor, my husband kept asking if it took me very long to make...meaning, if it didn't take too long to make, please make it again! I certainly will, I used 1/2 tsp salt for marinade and sauce, definitely double the sauce and served over brown rice, otherwise made per the recipe, thanks!

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
This was light and refreshing with a simple yet flavorful taste. You could change this so many ways, but I made it as is and was great. I did make a extra dressing like other reviewers suggested. I'll make this again when I need to bring a dish somewhere.

Danish Meatballs with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
This was REALLY good! I love the dill with the sour cream and it was so easy to make. I served over brown rice w/side of veggies. The meatballs had a great flavor and really weren't too time consuming either. Glad I found this recipe, I don't cook much with dill, but really enjoyed the flavor-1/4 cup is a perfect amount! Also, forgot to get heavy cream for the meatballs and just used regular milk instead.

Tomato Basil Penne Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
This is a great pasta dish! I added yellow squash and zucchini (because I do to everything this time of year!), and used plum tomatoes because I didn't have grape. I can't believe I'm going to say it, but the amount of cheese was too much for me, made doing the dishes a bear too trying to get all the cheese off the plates and pans. Next time I make this, which I definitely will, I will use less cheese and more basil. Thanks for the recipe!

Drunken Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
I've made this recipe twice and wasn't that impressed. The greens were just ok to me and didn't have too much flavor, we at them though, not to say they were terrible.

Veggie No Boiling Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
I had to make something for dinner that was good and quick, we had a contractor friend at our house doing some long awaited work so I wanted to make something good and hearty. This recipe took some time to assemble (sauteeing and chopping), but turned out great. I used zuchinni, squash and red onion, but you could use any veggies you like. The consistency was perfect - not too saucy or dry.

Jasmine's Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
These had great flavor and were pretty easy to make. I didn't use the bacon and I covered the brussel sprouts after sauteeing for about 10 mins to get them to my taste of doneness.

Nonna's Tuscan Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
The flavor in this dressing is excellent and it is not real thick once it's blended, but I loved it! Next time I will add less liquid as others suggested.

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
The thing I loved about this recipe is it has lots of veggies and you can keep adding all you want. I was a little skeptical adding the peanut butter and wondering if there would be enough flavor, but it really works! It was fantastic, husband loved it and we can freeze for lunches. I sauteed the garlic, celery, onion and red bell pepper, added to the soup and let it simmer about an hour, then added the peanut butter at the last. Thanks for the great soup recipe!

Dee's Roast Pork for Tacos

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
My sister and I made this for our family dinner while we were camping on the coast last weekend. Put a pork shoulder roast in the crockpot, cooked for 7 hrs, was falling off the bone and super easy to shred. The seasonings were great (will add a little more next time), served w/corn tortillas, lime, cabbage, salsa and sour cream. Yum, will definitely make this again! Super easy dinner to make when traveling in the RV.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
I don't care for the country style ribs, I much prefer ribs with the bone-in. The recipe was good though, I added more garlic powder and some soy sauce (1/4 cup) when I boiled the ribs (and the house smelled wonderful), then baked for 45 mins. Thanks for the recipe, lots of room to experiment with this one.

Hamburger Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
I made this for my husband to take hunting with him and he forgot it in the fridge so I had it for lunch the next day. I have to say I was impressed! It tasted good and was filling; I'm glad we now have a bunch in the freezer! I added some frozen peas and carrots, used cream of mushroom soup (w/roasted garlic) added mushrooms and a big scoop of sour cream. I ended up cooking for about 2 hours so the potatoes were done, could have been the dish I used to cook in. Will definitelyl make again with lots of veggies.

I made meatloaf and served the sour cream cucumber salad over a baked potato as another reviewer suggested. It was different and my husband liked it. I may add some garlic next time.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
I followed some advice from others...I made sure I refrigerated before cooking, used Franks hot sauce and baked instead of fried. Loved the wings, thanks.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
I didn't change a thing and like so many others, the teriyaki sauce was the best I've ever had. Great flavor. I've been searching for a good teriyaki and finally found it! It was so simple to make too! Thanks.

Corn Chowder with Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
This was the first chowder I ever made. It was pretty simple and really tasty. I added the celery and carrots like others suggested, used red onion, half and half (will try evaporated milk next time) and didn't peel the potatoes. I let it simmer on low for two hours to thicken it up. It was very satisfying. I froze the leftovers in individual bags to take to work for lunches. Will definitely be making this again! Thanks for the recipe.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
This was an easy sauce to make. I made with 1/2 the sugar and used tomato paste and I think I would have preferred to use the full amount of sugar, it was a little bland for me. I will make again, but I'm still searching for my "go to" recipe for spaghetti sauce.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
My husband LOVED this recipe after he was out in the cold all day cutting wood. I thought it was ok, doesn't top my grandma's though. I added frozen carrots and peas, used crm of chicken and crm of celery, salt and pepper, no onion and topped with the torn biscuits for dumplings. I will probably make it again.
