Molasses Bran Muffins

I didn't think these were too exciting. The taste was ok, moist and easy recipe. I won't be making againg though. Still looking for my "go to" Bran muffin recipe.

Made these for an appetizer on Christmas Day. I made these in stages so I wouldn' thave so much to do on Christmas. I seeded the jalepeno, then blanched them so they wouldn't be too hot-spicy. Put them in ice cold water to stop cooking and retain color, dried them and filled with cream cheese. I cooked the bacon in oven for approx 7-10 mins, just so they start to cook a little but aren't done, then wrapped the jalepenos using one full piece of bacon and used water soaked toothpicks to hold them together. Wrapped up the platter and refrigerated for a day & 1/2. Simply, popped them in the oven on Christmas on 350 for 25 -30 mins and they were done perfectly....oh, even though people warn not to touch your eyes after handling jalepenos, I touched my cheek/nose area and it was potent, burned for awhile...careful.

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Bean Soup With Kale

This soup was ok. It tasted kind of spicy to me, I added more beans than called for because it seemed like there wasn't enough substance in it. I loved the kale in it, just wasn't crazy about the soup in general.

Hot Bean Dip

Loved this bean dip, so good and easy to make. I didn't change a thing. I had this as a side dish for my son's first birthday, everyone loved it and my sister stopped by the next day for seconds. "Do you have any of that bean dip left?" "Why yes I do...surprisingly."

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad

Made this when we went camping, I was really hoping it would be good because it was the salad I was to bring to the table for two nights. I made it 24 hrs ahead, didn't add the carrots, 1/2 the sugar and soaked the red onion in water for about 5 mins before mixing the salad to tone down the onion flavor. Was awesome, my husband asked why I don't make it at home, now I will! :)

Beef Yakitori

I marinated for about 5 hours and the flavor was excellent. We BBQ'd chunks of sirloin on skewers and the meat was so tender, I've never had sirloin steak that tender! Will definitely make again. The house smelled wonderful, just from making the marinade! Loved the green onions too!

Roquefort Pear Salad

This salad is awesome! I'm so glad I tried this and made it for my sons 1st birthday! I got lots of compliments and didn't even include the pear because they weren't ripe. I can't wait to make with some ripe pear!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

This recipe was so easy and the perfect flavor and richness of the good ol comfort food I was looking for. Definitely add 3/4 cup of milk before baking, I only cooked for 30 mins and stayed moist next day.

Split Pea Soup

This soup was great, it thickened at the end, just as I was worried it was too soupy. I added a few chunks of garlic to cook w/peas and ham too that gave it added flavor. I simmered the ham for at least an hour before adding peas and veggies.

Olive and Blue Cheese Ball

This was good. I made with black and green olives, rolled in walnuts and served with red chili sauce and wheat thins. It was easy to make the night before, it wasn't flying off the appetizer table, but then there were LOTS of appetizers on the table, so maybe people just didn't realize just how good it really was!

Bourbon Barbecue Slow Cooker Beans

I was disappointed with these beans. For one, it took a lot of ingredients and time, and two, I was looking for a really good bbq bean recipe. I made this yesterday for a super bowl party, and the whole thing just didn't jive right with me. It was kind of like a chili, but with a bbq taste. I didn't care for the bacon and hamburger in there and I I love these ingredients. All I can say is, people got a bowl, took a bite or two and set it aside, including myself. I followed the recipe exactly too. It sounded good at first, but all together, it didn't taste right for me. Sorry.

Vegetable Dill Dip

Made this dip for an appetizer veggie tray for Thanksgiving. It was light and flavorful and not super filling right before the big meal. I got a lot of compliments and we continued to eat it with leftover veggies. It's different than ranch, which is a nice change. The recipe makes a lot too!

The Best Meatloaf I've Ever Made

This meatloaf was good, the consistency was great, good sandwiches the next day, definitely satisfied the meatloaf craving I had. However, I have managed to make it better in previous meatloaf renditions. I did like the toasted crumbled bread, and will use in the future, usually I use breadcrumbs or crackers.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

I changed this recipe some with the veggies I used, canned beans (used chili and kidney) and used turkey and johnsons bratwurst, but followed the spices per the recipe and I loved it. I make a lot of chili and am pretty particular about the taste of my chili, this one's a keeper and maybe the replacement of my "go to chili"!

Unbelievable Chicken

Don't Knock it Until You Try it Zucchini Chocolate Banana Nut Milkshake

My son, who is very picky about food, asked for seconds! I was thrilled that he was getting some zucchini and the added benefits from the banana + peanut butter (instead of nuts) + milk made me feel good that he was getting something good to drink. Only change I will make next time is not to add all the sugar or sub some honey in it's place. My sister made this for her boys after I told her of this zuchinni smoothie recipe and, voila! they drank it down too! Thanks for the recipe, glad I didn't knock it before I tried it!

Pork Loin with Potatoes

I decided to cook this in my crockpot and forgot I had an appt after work, so by the time I got home, it was a little overcooked, however, I managed to save it by making gravy and shredding the pork. Served w/baked potatoes and sour cream. Easy enough recipe, I will try the oven version next time to get the "roasted" effect.
