Cream Peas

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2005
I made this for parents, and even my dad who hates cooked vegetables ate it up. Good work Stephanie Moon!

The Real Reuben

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2005
It's a great recipe, but I can't give it 5 stars, because Russian dressing beats the thousand island variety hands down, especially when it comes to this amazing sandwich. Oh yes, and the bread? BUTTERED.

Real French Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
This is THE recipe to go from. Delicious crêpes, without or without additions. I live in Québec and these are pretty much just as good as what you'd get at a fancy breakfast place. Thanks Samantha.

Easy Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I had to add a lot more flour. (I know the batter is supposed to be thinner, but this was nuts). I wound up with a plate of mush. I will definitely keep looking for a good pancake recipe.

Bagel and Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2005
Proof that a good appetizer dip doesn't have to be complicated to be delicious! I used the chives cream cheese as specified and Cheez Whiz. It lasted about 5 minutes. Thanks!

Chilled Noodles with Tahini Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
I'm glad I listened to VWWOLF and doubled the sauce ingredients; he (or she?) was right. It was even a bit dry at the double-sauce level. Nevertheless, it definitely had a nice flavour to it and I think it's worth making again, but with even MORE liquid ingredients.

Terri's Veal Marsala

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
This came out very well. My mother couldn't stop obsessing about it tasted like 'restaurant food'. I substituted chicken breasts for the veal due to budget constraints, but I think the general idea of the dish was able to shine through despite this. One thing I would change for next time would be to use reduced salt chicken broth instead of the bouillon, as I found it quite salty. I must reiterate that this is really good though. Hell, my mom's making tomorrow night she liked it so much! Thank you Terri Lyons.

Easy Pineapple Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
Delicious! Others are right in saying that it's very moist and even 'gooey', but that's what I LIKE in a cake! It took only a couple of minutes to prepare. I also just made my own simple white icing instead of the cream cheese stuff (as I find that cream cheese costs an arm and a leg) and it was awesome.

Capers and Halibut

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2005
Quite good! I had to substitute haddock for the halibut because of the craptacular local grocery store, but it came out well nonetheless. The caper-wine combination really comes through.

Haddock Bubbly Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2005
This was a disappointment. It was bland, even with extra shredded cheese. Mushy, watery, no harmony whatsoever. If I would have had a bottle of ketchup on hand I would have dumped it all over the plate just to wake up my taste buds.

Super-Easy Rocky Road Fudge

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I was really impressed with how this turned out! I'm a marshmallow freak so I added extra of those and skipped the nuts. Very rich and satisfied the chocolate craving completely. So easy to boot!

Sandy's Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
This was very good. My parents (who tend to be quite picky) even went back for seconds. I did cook the macaroni half way before putting it in the oven, but only because our oven is kinda cruddy. I also used cooked chicken breast instead of canned stuff. Thanks for the good supper, Sandy!
