Blueberry Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
I was super excited about this recipe! My husband and I made it together. The first thing I noticed was the aroma! The 2nd was the awesome crust on the top! I tasted it and was slightly disappointed, my husband and I agreed. I would do this again for sure! I used 2 1/2c. sugar and no butter flavor this time. I would skip the almond extract (completely!!!!!) and use more blueberries or completely leave them out. I might also sprinkle some granulated sugar on top right before baking.

Banana Fritters

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2006
I was looking for a recipe for banana fritters b/c my husband grew up on them. His family is Haitian and this is a traditional thing they make. I couldn't use his mother's recipe b/c her measurements were not exact. It was a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I thought this was a good recipe, but I would add more sugar to the batter. My husband and I both agree that it needed more bananas. I think that if you like it for a desert, more sugar would be appropriate. It also depends how much you like bananas. We like the taste of bananas to be very strong and noticable. Also, I tried a previous suggestion and piped it out of a bag. The oil was way too hot and they came out like burned funnel cakes. After the first attempt, I used less heat and transfered the batter to a bowl and used a 1/3 measuring cup as my spoon. The looked just like his moms. With more sugar and more banana, I would make this a five star recipe! (I also only use overripe bananas so avoid having to throw them out. They also seem to be more sweet.)

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2006
I made this for my 2yr. old son's Blue's Clue's cake. I wasn't impressed. Way too sweet for me. I just really thought it lacked a buttery taste. Probably wouldn't use it again.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2006
I can't really comment fully on this cake because I'm still in shock! HOW MOIST IT WAS, and easy wasn't the word! All I can say is if you doubt, try it out for yourself and you will doubt no more!!! Call me doubting Thomas! I was really in doubt when I saw how soupy the batter was (even though I read the warnings). Like I said, I'm still in shock! Great cake! A definine "must make again"! No more boxed for me, ever!

Texas Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2006
My first from scratch frosting and I won't be buying any more from the store. I read that many people used this for brownies, but I wanted it for a cake. I added condensed milk to change the consistency and was quite satisfied with the results. I would reccomend this and continue to use it!!!

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2006
Let me start by saying that I used other reviews and altered the recipe. I only used 2 eggs and 3/4c. chocolate. They definitely tasted like boxed brownies, so I won't ever buy another box. My husband and my son LOVED them, however I thought they should have been called death by chocolate brownies the way I altered the recipe! I will most definitely make these again, but next time I will surely use the original recipie. Great brownies and super simple to make. This was my first attempt at home made brownies and it won't be the last.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
I didn't find anything wrong with them. They were really good cookies. When my 2yr. old son took a bite he said "mum mum". Can't find a better critic than that.

Hungarian Braided White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
Someone rated this before me and suggested that a first timer not attempt this. They were correct! This was just a bit too complicated for me. I had to rate it so i could review it but I couldn't proplerly give it credit due to the trouble.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
The recipie never specified unsalted butter but after years of cooking I should have known. The recipie was very simple. Not dealing with the issue of salt, I would definitely have to say they were great. I just can't wait until they are finished so I can remake it the right way!

Who the hell knew something that I love so much could be so easy for me to do? I added some nutmeg and sprinkled from hand rum to the top of the potatoes before adding the marshmallows. Freaking amazing! Thank you.

Yeast-Free Bread

This was the first "from scratch" bread I baked. I was going to pass it up and decided...if it comes out bad, what did I really waste. I have no complaints whatsoever and would reccomend it to anyone!
