Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I made a "cheaper" version of this, I only added shrimp, scallops, crab & smoked oysters. Everyone loved it.

Grandma's Farmhouse Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
excellent brine. I didn't change a thing - except I added more water to cover the turkey. We grilled the turkey and it was done so much faster than a non-brined turkey - so watch out for that.

Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
super easy, and wonderful. Just wished I would have bought more candy canes for the summer, so I could make this as a summer treat! Also works well using the candy cane chips when they come out during the holiday season.

Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Shoulder

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
It had too much vinegar--and I grew up eating German, so I know about vinegar. There just was not any "zing" besides the vinegar. Would not waste my pork on this recipe.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2005
I also cut down in the half & half, and added milk instead. Used clam juice instead of water and added: bacon, shrimp, scallops. It was very good and not too thick. Very easy to make and not at all time consuming.

This was great, I added ketchup, garlic and onions to the mix. I baked it then placed it in a crock pot for the football game. Everyone loved them and they were so simple to make.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
I used 1 lb hamburger & 1 lb spicy sausage - my husband loved the flavor. Also added more of the sauce to the meat mixture than the recipe called for. Placed some bacon on the top to give even more flavor.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs III

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
Made this for my husband's "guys night" potluck. Here are a few things I did Doubled the recipe Added hot sauce Ended up having to put the meatballs & sauce on the stovetop, due to after 4 hours the meatballs were still raw in the middle. cooked them on medium heat (brought to boil- then reduced) for 30 mins & returned to the crock-pot I didn't care for the smell these made. The men ate them up, so go figure.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
loved it! I took the advice an made the meatloaf in a cupcake pan. It was perfect, so my husband knew how many he could have and they cooked much faster I did add some extra spices, and peppers. My husband did not like the sauce on bottom & top, so I would just make a few with hot sauce on the top for him.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
I did not like this at all. The texture from the cottage cheese made it appear as if the cheese had curdled. The taste was just BLAH, there was nothing to it. I am not a spicy person, but this was just so bland. I would not make again.

This was so much better the 2nd day - after a night of soaking up the liquid. I followed others and doubled the liquid ingredients - very happy with the results.

Three Bean Salad I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
Did not care for this at all. Took to a pot-luck and everyone agreed that it just didn't have much flavour. The cilantro just didn't fit with all the other flavours.
