Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
This chicken was amazing! I only had about an hour to marinade and I marinaded a second batch overnight. I grilled hot and fast on something similar to a George Foreman grill. The flavor was delicious. I had no problems with burning. I butterflied the breasts to make them grill faster. It was so easy...really. I will definitely make this again and again. I will make more sauce too for basting. Thank you, Connie!

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2005
I made this last night and used rib-eye steaks. I marinaded them about 10 hours and grilled them on my electric barbecue. They were delicious!! Extremely tasty...I used a half recipe for one pound of meat. This was enough. Thanks, Kat!!

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2005
I made this last Thursday and ate it again as leftovers on Friday. WOW this is AMAZING!! It's really great, so very easy and even tastes better the second day as the spices permeate the chili. If you don't like it too spicy, just leave out the jalapenos. I personally really loved how spicy it was. I served it with French bread and butter. I will certainly make this again! My husband didn't even miss the meat!

Andrew's Herb Risotto

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2005
I made this risotto last night as a main dish. It was EXCELLENT!!! Especially the fusion of herbs like the combination of mint, rosemary and lemon zest! Really good... the only thing I would do differently is either make it like this and use it as a side dish or add some garlic infused chicken for some protein. My hubby missed some "meat"! I will certainly make this again. It was very easy! Thanks, Lesley!

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
This was the easiest pasta recipe I've ever made. The chicken was delicious dredged in the Cajun seasonings. I let them sit in the bowl for about a half hour while I was making Shrimp Etoufee and the Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce from this site (I did a New Orleans dinner party for Mardi Gras). We had too much left over and we ate it last night heated up and it was even better. The spices really got into the sauce. I used nonfat cooking cream instead of the heavy cream and it was still delicious and probably a little less rich. This is a keeper! Thank you Tammy!

Shrimp Etouffee II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
I made this for a Mardi Gras dinner last Monday night and wanted to make some "authentic" New Orleans food for some friends. After reading the reviews, I also made it on the stovetop. It was SO easy and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I used 100 grams (about 3 ounces) of crawfish (peeled and cleaned) in addition to shrimp to mix it up a bit. This was really amazing. They all wanted more! I handed out the recipe to my friends. Thanks Kay!

Sugar-Free Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
I made this dessert for a Mardi Gras dinner Monday night (with different dishes from New Orleans). My friend is 8 months pregnant and has gestational diabetes so I made this sugar-free dessert to accommodate her. IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! I've never cooked sugar free; never used any aspartame products in cooking but you couldn't tell there wasn't sugar in it! And the whiskey sauce...WOW that really made it delectable. I put the individual servings (cubed and sauced) into Creme Brulee forms (these are little quiche pan-like cassarole forms) and put them under the broiler. Definitely a huge hit and easy to make.

Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2005
I made this recipe with the Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken) from this site. While the chicken was very good, although relatively complex to make for such a simple dish, this rice recipe was terrible. The ratio rice to water/liquid was completely wrong. I had to continually add liquid to keep the rice from scorching. In the end, it did not even taste remotely like coconut although I added some grated coconut to it for some texture and flavor. It ended up being a gummy mess. It's too bad... but I would not make this again.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2005
This recipe was very good and could even have been spicier for our own taste. What my problem was with the recipe is that I could buy Masala ready made (the spices already mixed) and it would be just as good and a LOT easier. I found it to be a lot of work for the eventual result. Nonetheless, it was a good recipe and if you enjoy working a lot in the kitchen then this is for you.

Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2005
Delicious! I live in the Netherlands and can't always get all of the exact ingredients for these recipes but I substituted cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken and it was delicious! I'm sure I didn't even miss the C of Chicken soup! My husband thought it was delicious. I did use corn flakes on the top instead of potato chips (less salt) and this was very good. I made it together with (the absolute best) the Garlic Chicken recipe on this site and added a green salad and it was a great, easy dinner!! I baked them both together and that worked out fine. Thank you!!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2005
I made these potatoes last night with the recipe "Garlic Chicken" on this site (WOW--make this recipe, you'll love the chicken!!). They were good but I used an "old fashioned" masher and the potatoes didn't mix well with the cheese. I live in the Netherlands and could not get Romano cheese here so I substituted which was probably MY problem. In any case, the oregano was delicious in combination with the garlic. Thanks!!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2005
After reading all of the reviews of this recipe I couldn't wait to try it! I made it last night and WOW!! It was really very very easy to make and the chicken was so moist! The only thing I would do differently is to turn the chicken over once during baking in case you wanted the bottom to be browner. Otherwise, if you just put it on the plate, no one notices! It was very tasty with the potato cassarole from this site (with the hash browned potatoes, cream of chicken soup, sour cream and cheese) and a green salad!

Beer and Brown Sugar Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2005
I made this marinade and used it to grill some steaks last weekend and it was incredibly easy and smelled delicious while basting! My husband thought they were the bests steaks we've ever had! I live in the Netherlands and it was very easy to get all of the ingredients here as well. Thank you, Craig!
