About this Cook
Hello - Military baby - Air Force, naturalized US citizen. Unmarried, no children.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, baking especially, however I do more reading of dessert recipes than actual cooking of them. Lately I have been more interested in healthy cooking and finding interesting things to bring to work for lunch. No boring sandwiches for me. Lunch has become my primary meal and much more interesting from a culinary standpoint.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving! I have great memories of Thanksgiving, the way the house smelled, cooking with my Mother and Sister. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday to cook for and I host Thanksgiving every year. I love doing all of the preparations and decorating. Yes, Thanksgiving is my favorite family cooking tradition.
My cooking triumphs
Carrot Cake, Cheese Cake
My cooking tragedies
When I was a teenager I had a taste for Carrot cake. It was late at night, before 24 hour grocery stores and there weren't any carrots in the house. I went on and made the cake without them. Of course it promptly fell. Well this certainly re-enforced the concept that baking is chemical. Live, learn, and love!

Moroccan Fig Pork Roast
Overall I enjoyed this recipe, and would really give it 41/2 stars. Like others I served with couscous, added raisins and other dried fruits to the sauce. The next time I make this I'm going to try it with bone-in, skin on chicken thighs and increase the spices. I would serve this at a dinner party if I knew the guests appreciated ethnic food.

Real Strawberry Frosting
This was fabulous...especially on my chocolate pound cake. Like others I did add a pinch of salt and some strawberry extract. It was so good I actually saved the extra frosting, placed it in the freezer and ate it later on a spoon!! Thank you for the recipe..this is THE one if you want a strawberry frosting that is real.

Thai Pork with Peanut Sauce
Not bad. I'm going to play with this one a little bit to get it closer to what I was looking for. I ended up adding some fresh ginger to get the sauce the way I wanted it. I agree with other reviewers that it does require some more heat, I'm adding red pepper next time. I'm not a big pork eater, this has potential and worth another attempt.
