Tiny Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
these were perfect. I made them and my boyfriend who loves pecan pie really loved them. Also my mother in law raved about them and wants to make more now and took the recipe. I used regular muffin cups as that is what I had and they turned out fine. I also put them in muffin cups xmas ones and they peeled out nicely. Will make again..today!!!

Cornmeal Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
These came out really good. I omitted the raisins and instead added a little bit of orange zest and the orange flavor came out so perfectly. After they cooled, I dipped one end in melted chocolate. Everyone loves them. Am going to make for the holidays this year. Also good with dusting powdered sugar if you do not like chocolate. I highly recommend the orange zest. A++++

Chewy Cocoa Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
This brownie recipe was very fudgy and chewy. I am not sure what the others are meaning by cakelike. Mine came out very moist. I substituted wheat flour for the all purpose because that is what I had on hand, added in a cup of chocolate chips and took the brownies out a few minutes before they were completely done. I think that was key. Also I omitted the vanilla and nuts because I didn't have them. They came out sooooo goood!!! Will definitely make again.

Easy Potato Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2005
Yuck...I didn't think this soup was great. It smelled great while cooking, though I couldn't get myself to eat more than a few bites. Even my boyfriend, who is a chef, didn't think it was that good. Wouldn't make again.

African Curry

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
This was okay. My boyfriend thought it was good and he is a chef so it must have been fine. I added bamboo shoots and baby corn to this and used pork loin cut up rather than chicken. I also used 3 tsp of curry as others said to. I also added a little sugar to it because I like it a little more sweeter. Added mango chutney as well.

Hugs and Kisses Crescents

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2005
These were awful. I felt like I was eating kisses and bread. Definitely will not make again. They were too sweet and the croissant (pillsbury) was too bland. I ended up throwing them all away. What a waste!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2005
I made this recipe tonight and it was okay. I also halved the recipe, but forgot to half the jar of salsa, but it didn't make much difference. I added some crumbled tortilla chips as someone else did and I felt this made it better wiht some crunchiness to it. Not sure what anyone is meaning by spicy. This was so not spicy. I left out the tomatoes. Felt it would have been to "tomato-ey". I also used two full flour tortillas as the base, meat, tortilla chips and cheese, then repeated this, though mixed up flour and corn tortillas since I ran out. It still came out fine. Wouldn't give it a 5 star rating. Adding sour cream to the finished result made it better along with some taco sauce. Will try again though.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2005
This was a great recipe. I did make changes though. I used chicken breasts instead, followed other reviewers to use less mayo and add milk, also floured beforehand. When I was getting ready to put this in the oven, I saw on the back of the bread crumb package a recipe similar to this and it stated to cook at 425 degrees for 40 minutes, so I cooked the chicken at 400 degrees for 20 minutes per side and it was very crispy and the chicken was so moist and tender, almost falling apart. Will make again.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2005
This was so delicious. I have never had rice pudding and this was awesome. My b/f is a chef and even he was loving it. Used evaporated milk instead and dark raisins and it came out great. Also added cinnamon and nutmeg to the egg and beat it together. Loved it. will make again.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
I just made this bread and thought it was absolutely awesome. It was indeed very moist and it was very heavy when I took it out of the oven. I, like some reviews suggested, added 1T vanilla, 1/4 c more of brown sugar, 1 t cinnamon, 1 t of nutmeg and added 1 c of chopped nuts because we love them. Also, I added brown sugar, 1 T butter, chopped nuts and cinnamon to the top of the bread. I thought it would burn before the bread was done, but it didn't and I think it makes the bread even better. It does take a lot of bananas (I used 7) and it has great flavor. It took longer to cook, about an hour and 20 minutes and it is just delicious. Definitely will make again.
