Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
This was a great, simple bread. I only gave it four stars because we left out the second helping of honey as others recommended, and it was plenty sweet. Plus, the second rising was VERY delicate. I felt like it was going to fall at any moment, and the top ended up "dented" because it did fall a bit when I placed in the oven. Good basic recipe. I froze 2 of the loaves (like another poster recommended) so we will see how that turns out.

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
Really amazing! I didn't have a full pound of pecans, so I used 1/2 pound pecans, 1 egg white, a little water, 1/3 cup sugar, and lots of yummy cinnamon and a dash of salt. They turned out really crisp and delicious. I put them on top of a salad with some goat cheese, apples, and balsamic vinaigrette. Yum!

Whole Wheat Ciabatta

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Delicious and simple to follow! I followed some of the other poster's recommendations and added 1 1/2 tbsp more oil, and 1/2 tsp. more salt. I also substituted 1 cup of whole wheat flour for the bread flour, halved between the sponge and the bread. I also added a metal pie pan of water to the bottom shelf of the oven so the crust turned very flaky. This has a delicious sour tang, is chewy inside, and took almost no effort to make! For those who have never made it: the dough will be very sticky and gooey. This is alright! It should be that way.

Best Lemonade Ever

I really can't believe how great this recipe was. I don't often make homemade lemonade, but from now on this is the only recipe I will use!

Shabbat Challah

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
This is a delicious bread! I can't say how it compares to other Challah breads, as I have never had any, but it is spectacular in it's own right. I saw a show on Food Network that suggested using specialty breads for french toast, namely Challah, and I decided to try it for a ladies brunch I was hosting. They went raving mad for it!! It has been requested continuely since then, some ask for the recipe, others just want me to make it for them. I am making a batch today for another brunch tomorrow! This makes the most delicious french toast if you cut it 30 minutes early to let it dry out a little. Soak it for ten minutes a side, and after cooking in the skillet, it is thick and hearty and tasty! One last thing, this bread is especially easy to make, which is why I originally chose it. I had never baked bread before, and this turned out golden and delicious. It was simple, and fun, and makes me want to move on to more challenging bread. Thanks NUNU!

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
I loved this recipe! I didn't take everyone elses advice on adding tomato paste, and I should have, but it was still fantastic. I took out the chicken with tongs, to thicken the sauce a little, and it simply fell apart. I always have trouble with the times on my slow cooker, so check every so often. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!
