Fruit and Cream Pie I

Reviewed: May 6, 2010
Used the Vanilla Wafer Crust recipe on this site. Layered cream cheese/pow sugar, then strawberries, then whip topping. Next time I'll mix strawberries with cream cheese mixture, then top with whip topping, to help it stay together better. Delicious, looking forward to making it again this weekend!!!

Easy Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: May 6, 2010
A little strong but got tons of compliments on it. Easy to make. Made smoothies by adding ice and pineapple to the left over strawberries. Will definitely do again.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
Modified for son with gluten and dairy allergies, used almond milk and corn starch. Didn't have celery, almonds or dry sherry. Used up turkey broth from Thanksgiving and added leftover ham instead of chicken. Great way to use leftovers. Will definitely make again.

The Best Ugly Turkey

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
This was my first time cooking a turkey, it came out great!! And extremely easy! I didn't bother with turning it and added dried poultry seasoning to the inside and out. Those were the only changes.

Baked Oatmeal II

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
This is great to eat as a snack or for breakfast. I halved the brown sugar and added a diced apple. Due to dairy and egg allergies, I used one banana in place of the egg and applesauce instead of butter. Turns out moist and smells wonderful!

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
I've only tried store bought hummus and I prefer this recipe over those. It was really easy to make. I added some chili powder and lemon juice. I also sautéed the crushed garlic in olive oil. It has turned out great the three times I've made it so far. I use a blender and making 3 cans at a time makes it easier to blend. I keep some at home and my husband takes some to keep at work. Great recipe!

Banana Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
I might sweeten it up a little for next time, but it was really moist and almost cake like texture. I sprinkled some oats and brown sugar on top. Loaf looked great, wish I had taken a picture!!

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
Used recipe as is, except for I only had ground ginger. Had enough sauce, almost too much. It is missing something as far as flavor, that's why I only gave it 4 stars. May add red pepper flakes or something else to spice it up a little. But a very easy and quick recipe!

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
I have made the recipe twice and everyone has loved them. Used substitutes like many others: 1 cup of whole wheat w/ 1.5 cup of white flour, apple sauce instead of oil and 1 cup of brown sugar w/ 1 cup white sugar. I was able to get two recipes out of 1 can of pumpkin. This will be a fall favorite from now on.

Basic Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Good recipe to add to. I leave out almonds and celery, add paprika and garlic. Great use for leftover chicken breasts no matter the seasoning of the chicken. Have used with grilled chicken and BBQ chicken works great!!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Like many others, we use this instead of the package mix. I don't keep red pepper flakes on hand so use black pepper instead. Keep meaning to make alot at once to store or may just make alot of taco meat and freeze. Great stuff!! Thanks for the recipe!!

French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
Very good, just tricky toasting and serving the sandwiches. Added onions and red/green bell and provolone to sandwich for guests. I only need to cook it for about 8 hrs, used coarsely ground pepper, didn't have whole. Added a little Worcestershire. Will make ahead and let au jus set to scrape off fat.

Bubba's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
I halfed recipe and my husband said it was better than Zataran's. Only meat I used was Kilbasa sausage but used the whole package and left out celery. Added some red bell that we had already chopped. Also use long grain brown rice. I cook the rice separately in the chken/beef stock till mostly done, then add in with the veggies and meat. Let simmer until rice is done. One of my favorites!!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
A great recipe, but tweaked a little. I cooked the onions in a little bit of butter in the pot then added chicken, 1 potato, carrots all chopped. Poured the 1 3/4 water with two chicken bouillon cubes, salt, celery salt, paprika, garlic, basil and rosemary, let boil for 15 min. Towards the end added frozen green beans and corn. Then added the flour, milk and pepper. Also let the bottom pie crust cook for 7 min first as others advised. Turned out really good. All in one pot and mixed well before putting in the pie. Might leave out the rosemary next time.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
Everyone loves this recipe. Taste like lasagna, but I think is easier to make. I use recipe as is. For the spaghetti sauce, I use a three cheese and a garden vegetable sauce. Adds more cheese flavor and gets the veggies in also. Makes a very full 9x13 dish.

Very creamy and tasty, but a little too salty. Will add less salt and more rice next time.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
This tasted like onion and noodles! VERY VERY VERY bland. I followed the recipe except for only used half an onion and did not use bacon. It tasted like it should have been a hash brown casserole instead of mac and cheese.

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2006
I tried a couple of quiche recipes on here and this is my fav. I like the hash brown crust but have not gotten it to come out just right or it takes a while to cook. This last time I just cooked tater tots, then mashed them in and around the edges of the pie plate for the crust and it worked great!! It was a thicker and tastier crust.
