My favorite family cooking traditions
Very, very German family, so I make a lot of stick-to-your-ribs wholesome dishes. My favorites include spaetzle, wiener schnitzel, potato dumplings (a little like spaetzle I suppose), strudeln/struesel, bierbroet, und pumpernickel breads
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean stuffed mushroom with white wine, shephards' pie, anything really coooking with wine I'm good at, oh! and fudge. good at fudge.
My cooking tragedies
Haha...ok, when I was 9, I wanted to make a coffee cake. So I took my mom's coffee beans and chopped them with a knife and threw them in my coffeecake batter. It was the crunchiest cake I have ever made :). Also tried making a "camping" cake once, and thought it would be a good idea to have a blue jello lake in the middle. That went over well. Oh, the list could go on for miles. I've had a lot of fun in my kitchen!

Sugar Cookie Icing
Ran out of food coloring (oops.) so I used a packet of cherry kool aid. Works like a charm!

World's Best Lasagna
Learn from my mistake--DO NOT put the noodles directly on the bottom of the pan (like I did) to start out layering. The bottom noodles will burn to the bottom of the pan. Start with a layer of sauce (like the recipe says). I should have read my instructions. Besides the burned bottom, though, it was a hit! :)

Easy Microwave Chocolate Cake
Ok, followed the recipe exactly and kept a sharp eye on my microwave. I got an eggy-tasting brown mess. Didn't taste good at ALL. SO, I tried it again at my buddy's house thinking it was my microwave. Once again, eggy gross-ness. Can't say I'd recommend this one....
