Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
This was very good as written. The only improvements would be to add the lemon zest to the sauce and thicken it at the end of cooking. Will definitely make again with these modifications. Thanks for the recipe!

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I doubled the recipe and used two 8x4 pans. I omitted the nuts, and otherwise made it exactly as written. It is so yummy and moist. The person who said it was like biscotti must have omitted some ingredient or had old baking powder or soda. The sweetness of the orange offsets the tartness of the cranberry. Originally made it for my husband, but I am eating most of it! Thanks for the recipe - it is a keeper.

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
This was really tasty, and my family agreed. I just whisked all the ingredients together and poured into a plastic bag with flank steak for about 24 hours. The aroma while grilling was very nice - will definitely use this again and try it on chicken, too. Thanks for the amazing recipe!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This was outstanding! My husband requested a yellow cake with chocolate frosting for his birthday, and this frosting exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
This was wonderful. I prepared in the crock pot exactly as reviewer A_STEITZ recommended. This was so flavorful and easy, and the house smelled wonderful all day! Thank you. This is a keeper.

Bolognese Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
This was very good. I did take other reviewers' advice and increased the garlic to 3 cloves . I also increased the oregano and basil. I still felt that there was something missing, so that's why I'm not giving 5 stars. There was a certain zest that was lacking that I look for in a great sauce, but I still haven't figured out what that is...

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I made these exactly as written, and they are wonderful! It took between 7 and 8 minutes in my oven for the edges to get slightly brown, and that is the perfect "doneness" for these cookies. They're not too sweet - just right! Perfect with the Sugar Cookie Icing recipe (also from this site). I'll be making them again next year - thanks for submitting!

Yummy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
This was just wonderful! It would make a great, but easy company dish. Unbelievably, pork tenderloin was cheaper than chops at the store today. I cut it up into medallions and seared them in some olive oil. I removed them from the pan so I could put 1/2 of a cut Vidalia onion in the pan. Then I replaced the pork, covered with the sauce (to which I added about 2 tsp of minced garlic) and let it cook covered 25 minutes on medium heat. My husband agrees that this is a definite keeper! Thanks for the recipe.

Lemon Poppy Seed Dessert Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
This was a great, light tasting alternative for a holiday meal. I followed a few reviewer suggestions and substituted some apple sauce for 1/2 cup of the oil. It was a delicious cake, and I was already asked for the recipe. Thanks, and I will make this again.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
These were very good - easy to make, and the results were what I expected. The only adjustment I made was using Smart Balance margarine and mayo, otherwise I followed the recipe. They cooked in the same amount of time as my Easter Ham. Will definitely make again for a special occasion.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
This was a really healthy and tasty soup. The only reason it's getting 4 stars is that we thought it would taste better with beef stock, rather than vegetable. Otherwise, it was great! Thanks.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
We just finished having this for dinner, and my husband said this favorably compared with Olive Garden's alfredo sauce, which he loves. I used low fat cream cheese and skim milk, and threw in some shredded Italian cheeses. The flavor and texture were excellent! Thanks for the recipe.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This is great! I like to use some grape tomatoes in place of 2 of the romas, just to add a little variety. I've served this to guests and they always enjoy it.

Curried Leek Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
The flavor of this soup is wonderful, but I prefer a thicker cream soup. Will make again and reduce amount of water or add thickener. Thanks - we enjoyed it!

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
This was great! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that I did use the suggestions from other reviewers to add extra spices. I also saved time by just combining all of the raw vegetables, spices, a drizzle of olive oil, 1/2 cup cheese, and cooked rice. Spread into the casserole dish, then top with another 1/2 cup of cheese. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes, and the vegetables are perfectly done crisp-tender (just the way we like them). Thanks for the recipe!

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This was wonderful! Thank you. Such a nice alternative to plain old pasta with meatballs and sauce. I always use whole grain pasta and it turned out beautifully. As other reviewers suggested, it's best to reduce the amount of oil - I used just enough to cover the pan and flavor the veggies. Will definitely make this again.

Homemade Cereal

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
Before I made this, I wish I had read deeper into the reviews to discover that this doesn't clump at all. The only thing I changed was to substitute applesauce for oil to cut down on fat. It didn't stay as crunchy as I had hoped in milk, either. Other than the fact that this is a healthy choice, I was disappointed and won't make this again.

Sea Bass Cuban Style

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
I made this exactly as the recipe states, and it was absolutely delicious. I did have to use tilapia because I couldn't find any sea bass. We really enjoyed it and will definitely make it again! Thanks for the recipe.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
This is really good. I omitted the bananas, otherwise made as listed. Even though I used room temp cream cheese and creamed it well, I still got small lumps of cream cheese floating in the mix. It doesn't detract from the taste, however, only the texture.

Ham and Cheese Breakfast Quiche

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
We're having guests for brunch in a few weeks, so I gave this a trial run. We both really enjoyed it. I used fat free half and half, one whole egg and two additional egg whites. I also used bacon, scallions, and the "simply" hash browns which are not frozen. It's not soggy or runny, which is the problem with most breakfast casserole dishes. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I had to put foil around the edges (much as you would a pie) so that they didn't burn. My husband said this is a keeper, and I will be proud to serve this to guests.
