Duo-Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
No good. Try "real" fudge. Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge on this site is worth the work.

If you are a fudge snob like me, don't waste your time. Awful compared to real Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge! Try the real stuff, this is really bad in comparison.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
ATTENTION: fudge making is an art, and it takes time and LOTS of practice. This is hands down the best fudge on Earth. Other people's ratings are lower only because of the work involved, NOT because of the taste. This is almost the exact recipe that has been in my family forever and there is nothing that compares to it. If you are willing to take the time to learn this art... you will be forever glad you did. The chocolate chip recipes are truly awful compared to this! Some Hints: butter sides of sauce pan, and don't stir or knock the pan when it's cooling, your fudge will almost never crystallize and come out much creamier. Heat this recipe slowly on medium heat, it will burn if you heat it too fast. Also, this recipe doesn't make much, but don't try to make two batches at a time unless you've made this several times. Make your second batch seperately, you can use the practice.

Chocolate-Candy Cane Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
Very good! Like the last user, I just made the basic cake and didn't add peppermint candy or chocolate chips. Because the mix seemed very thick, I added 1/3 cup of 2% milk. Excellent cake! Better than the mix by itself, which is good to begin with.

Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2007
This recipe is terribly deficient. It doesn't give beginning fudgers even a chance, and any regular fudger knows, all good fudge recipes are finicky and require much more direction, not to mention, a dash of salt.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
Excellent! Just perfect taste all around. Let me say, this recipe is wonderful whether you take all the extra advice about spices or not. I've made it more times than I can count and we all love it both ways.

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
oh my goodness!! super!! I have made this many times now and I much prefer 2% milk with corn starch to the heavy whipping cream. also, it is a bit too salty, as many other reports have indicated... use 1/2 tsp. of salt instead of a whole and add extra at the table if needed. EXCELLENT!!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
Excellent! Four stars because there is so much cheese. We love cheese as much as much as the next person; however, this is way to much. If you are a moderate cheesse person and concerned with fat, use 1 cup, the taste will still be there. If you are a cheese lover, use 1 1/2 cups, that should be more than enough.

Elizabeth's Extreme Chocolate Lover's Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
This cake is a big project, that's for sure; however, it's worth it. I gave it 4 stars only because I felt the cake part was a bit too dry. When I make this next time, I will add 1/4 c of oil to the cake part. I used parchment paper to make the cake come out of the pan more easily and it worked like a charm.

Thai Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
Very Good. I recommend sprucing it up some, because it is somewhat bland without. I tried to incorporate several other reviews: Use 1 whole brown onion in addition to the green onion (sautéed in sesame oil), add about a tsp of salt, 2 Tbsp of curry (instead of just one), 3 thick slices of ginger root if you have any (let cook with rice), and 1 clove of garlic. I cooked the rice in coconut milk as well as added more coconut milk to the hot stovetop mixture. A hint: reduce water by 8oz (1 cup) and cook the rice in the coconut milk and remaining water.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Hopefully I'm covering most of the debates about the frosting in this single review. Use 1 3/4 cups of POWDERED SUGAR instead of regular sugar for frosting! It firms it up enough to be a better frosting. If your cake is sweet, you might consider using less powdered sugar (cutting back on the sugar in the frosting makes for an excellent mix with a sweet cake). If you do decide to use less sugar, add 1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon of cornstarch to firm. Be sure to beat heavy whipping cream in an entirely separate bowl, and then beat together with cream cheese mixture. Definitely, freeze beaters and bowl before whipping the cream and deep chill frosting afterwards. Overall, this is the best cream cheese frosting/filling I've ever had!

My Big Fat Greek Omelet

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Outstanding taste and great for a quick dinner or lunch too! Even my kids liked this! Although many reviewers said it needs onion, I've made it twice without and it's still an excellent taste! Follow the recommendations for salt and feta carefully as it's easy to over-salt this omelet.

Betsy's Mandarin Orange Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2006
Excellent taste! Recommendations: add a teaspoon or two of the orange juice from the can into the almonds when you put them in the pan. Cook on low heat and stir often for 5-8 minutes, cool quickly when they brown; they come out wonderful! I make extra to snack on later because they are THAT good! Another thing I do is soak the chopped onions first, as it reduces the OVER-ONIONED flavor and throw the entire dressing (along with the pre-soaked and drained onions) into the blender. The dressing comes out perfect!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
Completely incredible!! This soup has so much potential because of it's flavor and it has room to grow. Next time I believe I will add some cut up squash just to increase the vegtable content.

Quick Chicken And Wine

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
Watch out for the salt! Overall, excellent and quick, but I think I must have used too much salt and pepper. I will be careful about rolling each piece of chicken in salt and pepper next time!

Zucchini Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2006
Perfect! This is easily the BEST bread I've made (I've made a lot of sweet breads)! I recommend using 1 1/2 c whole wheat flour and 1/2 c wheat germ to up the fiber. No noticable changes in taste. Since this recipe can run slightly dry, if you find yourself considering cutting down on the oil - don't. I added 1/2 cup of applesause along with the oil and it is just perfect. With or without the changes this bread is excellent!
