I am a newly wed. My husband and I got married in June 2005. My husband works and I am able to stay home and get stuff done around the house. I have been able to experiment with lots of different cooking. When I was younger my mother didn't allow me to cook we always went out or heated something that was pre-made in the oven. Now that I am on my own I have had fun cooking and experimenting with all types of food. My husbands favorite is my enchilada ring.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook mexican food. My grandparents are all from New Mexico, and I grew up eating lots of Mexican food. Nothing at Mexican food restaurants around the Boise area seems to live up to the home-cooking mexican I have learned from my Grandma's.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandparents love making sopapia's. It is a tradition to have sopapia's with chicken enchilada's and also chili. A sopapia is a type of bread that is deep fried. If you make it just right it puffs up to make a hollow pocket inside.
My cooking triumphs
My husband is very particular with what he eats. He is very honest as well, which I like because if he says it is good I know it is good!!! He really enjoys my Vegetable Chicken Stir fry, my enchilada ring, and my basic french toast. I also make him toast with a basted egg inside which he loves to have in the mornings before work.
My cooking tragedies
I can pull a lot of recipes off just by adding or tweaking them, but I have not figured out how to make good fish. Everytime I end up trying a new fish recipe it is a disaster. We usually end up just making a pbj after the fish goes south.
