Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
I took the advice of other reviewers and mixed the wet ingredients first and am glad I did as it was still a bit tricky to get the batter to thin out nicely. These were just okay for me. They had a strong eggy flavor. I just had crepes on vacation and they did not have that egg taste to them. I put some peanut butter, nutella, chocolate, and bananas in mine and it was pretty good. They were just not as light as I would have liked.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
This was a really good chili recipe. I made this without the beans as I am on a diet where I cannot have beans. In lieu of the beans, I used green and red peppers. It came out really well and was flavorful. It would have been better with the beans for sure, but I would also add some peppers just for a little extra taste. My kids did think it was a little too spicy, so I am going half the cayenne pepper next time. Otherwise a great quick and easy recipe.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
This was really good and quick! I did not use wheat germ simply because I did not have any. I used one large banana and fresh strawberries. My 9 year old actually made it and drank it right up! Great healthy snack for the day. I might start making these as a healthy start to the day in the mornings.

The Best Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I really liked these, but my husband said he thought they were just "okay". It is very cheesy, so I guess it could used something else mixed in it to give it more texture. I did use scallions and some bread crumbs, which did help. I would make them again.

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I have had this recipe forever in an old Taste of Home magazine, but never made it until I saw it here on Allrecipes. It was a huge hit! I made it exactly as directed and it was a huge hit at the party we went to. I will definitely make this again.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
This was good, but not out of this world. I followed the recipe exactly as written. If I make this again, I would probably use half the amount of sausage. It overwhelmed the dish a bit.

Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
This was really good and I plan on making it again. I used italian style stewed tomatoes as that is what I had on hand. I also used fresh garlic in lieu of the garlic powder and threw in some mushrooms and italian seasoning. My husband loved it!

Easy Teriyaki Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This was great! I did not find it to be salty as the other reviews have suggested. I only put in 1 tsp. of the garlic powder and just a dash of worchesterhire sauce. It was fabulous. I think it would be great with some grilled pineapple. I think it would be good on steak and chicken too. I will definitely make it again.

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
I was really expecting this to be outstanding based on the reviews, but it was nothing exceptional. My husband said it was "okay" and my daughter, who is not a picky eater, hated it. It is not something I would ever make again.

Ham Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I loved this soup as did my family including the kids. I did not read the recipe carefully before shopping and only bought one pound of bacon by accident. It still turned out great and I think 2 pounds would be too much as it turns out. The only other change was that I did not use 4 tablespoons of rosemary because it smelled so strong with just two tablespoons that I opted not to use the rest. I actually strained the rosemary out after a few minutes...it left a light flavor without being too overpowering. I followed the rest of the recipe exactly and it turned out wonderfully. I will make this again.

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2007
The main flavor of this soup was the chicken broth and not the asparagus. It was okay, but not at all what I was hoping for. My husband did not like it. I wouldn't make it again.

Spanish Rice Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2007
Given all the great reviews, I really expected this to just taste great. What a dissapointment. Neither my husband nor myself enjoyed this. We ate it - I guess I will say it is edible, but no one in the family got seconds. We couldn't put our finger on it, but one of the ingredients just gave it an odd taste...perhaps the brown sugar? It really did not taste at all like Spanish rice. I will not make this again.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
This was delicious! It was a huge hit at the playgroup I hosted. I only had 5 bananas on hand, but it worked just fine with the five. I also didn't add the nuts because I personally don't care for them. It was fantastic and everyone raved about it. I didn't have any problems with it being wet in the center as some other reviewers mentioned. Perhaps that is because I only used 5 bananas?

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
I made this recipe with the modifications suggested by many of the reviewers. I used cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups, replaced the mayo with 1/2 cup of milk, prepared the stuffing according to the directions on the box and mixed everything up together before baking. With the modifications, it was good...not out of this world, but I will definitely make it again. My picky son ate it and didn't even realize he was getting his veggies for the day too! I suspect without these modifications this would be a pretty bland casserole.

Shredded French Dip

This recipe was very good. Tasty and easy to make. The only difficulty I had was trying to skim that fat from the gravy, but that could just be me not doing something right.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
These were "okay". I love cheesecake & pumpkin, but these just didn't do much for me. I guess the consistency was just too creamy for my liking. I wasn't crazy about the crust either. Too crumbly.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

These are to die for!!! They came out perfectly...nice and chewy and oh-so-tasty! I plan to make these for my children's teachers this year as Christmas gifts. 5 stars all the way!!! One tip...be sure to let the cookies cool all the way before removing from pan, otherwise you will have a chocolately mess.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
WOW! This is the first time I have ever eaten meatloaf and LOVED it. I've tried many many recipes and none have touched this one. I was delicious! The only thing I changed was the amount of milk. You definitely don't need 3/4 cups as it would make it to mushy. I barely used 1/4 and it came out perfect. The brown sugar sauce/glaze was delicious.
