Fruit Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
What a yummy, easy way to get creative! I made this for guests and they all raved, adding how 'healthy' it is. I laffd! Sugar cookie dough, cream cheese, and marsh' fluff. But there's fruit! I tried grapes, mango pieces, kiwi, and mandarin oranges. Very pretty! Thanks for the great idea. Will use it again.

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
I wish I could award 'no stars' for this recipe. After seeing all the wonderful reviews, I thought I had to try it. I did...and it blew my microwave! And it's not that old, or cheap! What a letdown. The chips that did get cooked were somewhat rubbery as well. Bummer, all 'round.

Italian Pumpkin Strata

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
I was so hopeful for this recipe, as I'm known in my family for trying daring recipes. I took it to Thanksgiving @ Grandma's for breakfast...and it didn't really get commented on. It took waaaaaay longer to cook than noted. Probably 2/3 longer. Bread still somewhat mushy. Not an impressive recipe. Interesting concept, though.

Pineapple Cranberry Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
Looks like I'm the first daring soul to try this recipe (or review it). Tasted too....pineappley...and bitter. Very weird. Not at all like a fruity salsa I was expecting. Good luck if you're out there, feeling tempted by the challenge.

Double Chocolate Mocha Trifle

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
Beautiful, yummy, easy, cheap. All the prerequisites to a perfect recipe. Made it 2x in one week. Didn't exactly 'cube' the brownies. As long as they're crumbled, it assembles fine. It's a mess to scoop out, but those eating it don't care. Be generous with the coffee to get any kind of 'mocha' flavor.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
It would be a good idea to grease the pan if you are serving this straight from the fridge. Took this dish to a potluck and people could only scrape off the cream cheese and fruit layer (I uesd raspberry). That stuff was good, but how embarrassing the crust was rock solid in the pan.

Sue's Taco Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
Took this to a potluck and brought home an empty bowl. It's a hit! Threw some black olives on top. Definitely use corn chips in the salad. More authentic. Eat Doritos later buy themselves. This brought back fond memories of one of my fav'rit potluck staples a lady in our church was famous for. Yeah! Now I have my own!

Vegetable Pizza II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
You can pretty much guarantee that anything with a crescent roll crust is gonna be heeeeYUMMY! This was no exception. The ranchy-sour creamy sauce was good just as a dip by itself if you have leftover. Get creative w/your veggies. I just threw broccoli, cauli, and carrots in my handy chopper and...presto! Very easy. Try it! Just like the stuff they sell in the deli. =)

Lentil Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2006
My search for a low-cal lentil recipe led me to this one. I must say, I was a little disappointed at first...nutmeg, cloves, red wine..? But, after it sat a while, I was scarfing it down. Very mediterranean, not just 'a flair'. Will make it again.

Mocha Java Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2005
What a HUGE disappointment! I raced all over town to get the ingred's for this...and it ended up in the trash. It didn't tell you what size pan to use, the mocha layer was bitter, and 15 mins was not near long enough to chill in the fridge before adding the white chocolate. Some recipes I botch I keep just for myself to nibble on after deciding not to serve to guests. Not this one. Hope others have better success.

Cake Mix Cookies VII

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2005
This is THE recipe if you're in a hurry and want cookies now! I've made them 5x in the past 2 weeks. They do taste like cake mix, though, I have to say. But if those you're making them for are nondiscriminating in their tastes, you've got a hit. Tried it with choc chips & p'nut butter chips. Yum!!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
Obviously, the sheer volume of 5 star ratings makes this recipe a 'must try'. And I must agree! I'm not a connosieur of corn casseroles, but this was awesome! And those that tried it that have fond childhood memories of the same stuff, raved about it as well. Thanks, Ruthie!

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
It's true! It doesn't get any easier than this. Perfect when you have no time to shop for multiple ingred's. It definitely needs frosting, though. Used cream cheese frosting IV from this site and was perfect. Also sprinkled mini choc chips on top and balanced the taste well. Yum!

Cheese Fritters

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
What a great taste! I had some leftover cottage cheese that I wanted to use up and this was the perfect solution! Make sure you drain the fritters well after frying as they do retain the grease. The nutmeg adds an awesome surprise flavor. Light and fluffy and yummy w/raspberry jam!

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
I made this with chicken instead of sausage and my parents raved that it was better than Olive Garden's minestrone! Very easy to throw together. And healthy too! This is the kind of stuff I crave. Thanks, Karen!

Microwave Spiced Nuts

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
Wow!!! Very easy and a sure-fire pleaser. Works great as a last minute Christmas gift, snack for company, or...for yourself! Great flavor. Work good with other types of nuts, too. I used a couple cans of mixed nuts and they were just as good. Thanks, Jim!

Venison Schnitzel

Very tough. I even undercooked the meat and used the tenderest of cuts. The flavor of the crust was good, however. Maybe I'll try again with a different cut of venison. Thanks, Clint!

Fruited Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
Not great. Curry taste overpowered. Skipped the celery and onion (due to taste preferences) and the salad was quite a letdown. Especially for all the work involved. I do like the combination of chicken with fruit, however. And pecans always add a yummy crunch. Worth trying...with modifications.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
Great tasting frosting, but 4 cu. sugar is waaaaaay to much. I used 2 cu. and that was plenty. Make sure the cream cheese is room temp and beat that first by itself before adding the other indred's. Easy recipe when you're in a hurry!
