Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2015
Delicious! The only changes I made were to add a little onion powder and garlic powder to the bread crumb mixture. Baked it for 40-45 minutes, put under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, and the chicken was moist and flavorful.

Sassy Chicken Enchilada Dip

Very good; even better the next day. I thought the dip was much better served warm.

Jackie's Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2015
Delicious, and very easy. I added a can of cannellini beans, omitted the parsley, and used mild Italian sausage sliced instead of removed from the casing. Those were the only minor changes I made, and the recipe was fantastic!

Savory Vegetable Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2014
Great, easy recipe. I skipped the bay leaf, and used beef broth instead of the water + bouillon, but followed the recipe exactly otherwise. Lots of flavor!

Apple Snack Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
These are SO GOOD and so easy. I omitted the nuts, halved the recipe, and baked in an 8x8 pan for 33 minutes--they came out perfectly. Next time I will make a full batch!

Island Kielbasa in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
As written, I think this dish would have been WAY too sweet. I cut the sugar down to about 2/3 cup, and it was still really, really sweet. I also added sliced carrots, onion, and green pepper. Fried the kielbasa and added it to the crockpot just before serving. I will definitely make again, but may switch out a cup of the ketchup for chili sauce to try to make it a little less sweet.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
This was SO good! I will definitely be making this often. I cut the butter to 4 tbsps., used 1 tsp. of garlic powder because I was out of fresh garlic, omitted the cashews, and added a tbsp. of cornstarch. Sounds like a lot of changes, but I don't think it altered the flavor of the sauce.

Smucker's® Cherry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
I made this late at night and tasted it right away--at that point it was fantastic; practically melted in my mouth. However, by the next morning it already tasted stale to me. I would definitely recommend the recipe if you are baking it right before you serve it; however if I hadn't tasted it until the next morning I wouldn't be making it again. I substituted raspberry jam for the cherry preserves because that is what I had on hand, and omitted the almonds. The glaze is a must--it adds some needed sweetness.

Almond Wild Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
I don't know what I'm missing, but my husband and I did not like this AT ALL. The only change I made was to substitute dried cranberries for the raisins. It is also a bit pricey for a side dish once you purchase the wild rice, almonds, and, in my case, dried cranberies, so I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone on a budget. It makes quite a lot, and it was all wasted because we just did not like it enough to eat it.

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
Delicious! I made a couple of changes to suit our taste--omitted the olives and guacamole, and used refried beans with green chiles, added taco seasoning to the meat, and used a mexican cheese blend for half the cheese. Still could have used a little bit more heat; I think I'll use more taco seasoning next time. But it was a big hit regardless!

These cookies are SO good. I substituted 1 tsp. of vanilla for the brandy, and added 1/4 tsp. of salt.
