Teriyaki Onion Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
This is slightly better than the typical burger. I made it as directed and it could definitely use more seasoning. I will add some salt and pepper next time and I may try adding garlic and let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours. Like others have said, this is a good base recipe to start from. Also, for those of you who thought it was mushy, this is a result of having to mix ingredients into the ground beef. If you want a burger with better consistency then you'll have to shape your burgers right out of the packaging. Otherwise, you might try lower heat with longer cook time.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
I didn't have onion flakes on hand so I substituted onion powder. The dill gives it that something extra. Very tasty and I will be making this on a regular basis. Thanks Sara!

Ham and Swiss Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
Very good after making a few adjustments! The only ingredients I changed was I substituted half the swiss for sharp cheddar because my son isn't crazy about swiss, I used cream of mushroom in place of the mushrooms, and I added about a cup of sweet corn. Also, I modified the directions slightly where I added the ham to the onions which I sauteed until they started to brown, and then I added the cream of mushroom to 'deglaze' the bottom of the pan and get all of those tasty brown bits.

Spaghetti Pizza Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
This is definitely better the following day. I followed other recommendations and set oven to 375 and cooked for 45 minutes, added spices to egg mixture, and sauteed chopped onion and garlic with beef. Two recommendations I didn't use this time but will next are to use more sauce and wait to put the cheese on until the last 15 minutes or so.

Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Great flavor and easy to make. What more can you ask for? I don't know if my mustard powder was old, but I didn't like the mustard sauce, so I scrapped that batch and made another using regular yellow mustard. Much better.

Hawaiian Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
It was okay, but I did alter the recipe. I used 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 3T of butter. The sweetness was about right but it could've used a little kick. If I make this again, I will try some red pepper, which was suggested by other users. Besides the taste, this was very simple to make. Also, I cut the chicken into bite size pieces before cooking.

Lisa's Favorite Carne Asada Marinade

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Followed the recipe precisely (except for baked it in the oven) and loved it! I will definitely be making it again soon. Thank you very much for the recipe. For the side dish, I made Quinoa and Black Beans which is a recipe that can be found on this site. It's a very good side dish for this meat (tasty and healthy).

Skyline Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I've never had Cincinatti chili before, but I plan on having it a lot in the future. I used other suggestions and blendered the meat, added 1 square of bittersweet chocolate, and cut the cinnamon to 1/2 teaspoon. This is just a nice twist on ordinary chili.

Honey Peanut Granola

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
This was okay. I made it exactly as directed. I just wasn't crazy about the peanuts. I like peanuts but it just didn't fit with this recipe. I'm going to try another's recommendation and use almonds next time.

Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2012
Very good! followed the recipe to the letter and it tasted just like restaurant versions I've had. I used round steak and I cut it against the grain but it was still a little tough. I read that 'marinating' the beef in baking soda will tenderize it so I plan to try that and I'll comment here on how that worked.

Way too much sugar. Meatballs were good though.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
Excellent! I didn't change a thing. I love sweet sauces and this one hit the mark. The glaze clung to the chicken just as it should and the chicken was tender and just fell apart (which is the benefit of thighs over breasts, obviously).

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
Very good but it was a bit salty I'll follow the submitter's own suggestion. Also, I will try the suggested glaze and that put this meatloaf over the top.

Slow Cooker Bean Casserole AKA Sweet Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Way too sweet to be a main dish. Also, the sweetness overpowers the bacon. If I make this again, I'll cut back on the molasses and use this as a side dish.

Erica's Delicious Slow Cooker Beef Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Not great, but pretty good. The best thing about it obviously is the fact that within 15 minutes, everything is in the cooker. I used a chuck roast and served it with Alton Brown's baked brown rice recipe. The leftover gravy really pulled it all together.

Ham and Cheese Bowties

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I've been in search of mac n' cheese recipe that isn't so grainy. Unfortunately this isn't one of them. It had good flavor but I'm just not very fond of the texture. I'm going to try the four cheese macaroni recipe on this site and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will have a nice creamy texture.

Michelle's Blonde Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Great recipe! Tasted even better as leftovers. Put it on top of rice and topped with shredded cheddar. Good comfort food. I omitted the peppers because of my son, but I think it would've been better with them. I boiled and shredded the chicken. The only thing I wasnt' too crazy about was that the beans just kind of disappeared. I could still taste them but they were just all mashed up. I'll be making this again.

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
If it wasn't for 3+ hour cooking time, I would've given this recipe five stars. By the time it got done cooking, the cheese was burnt on top. I will definitely try some of the suggestions about par boiling or microwaving the potatoes prior to baking. I used the wide slot grater on my 4-sided grater, so the potatoes were very thin. I'm not sure why they took so long to cook. Besides the cooking problem, this dish tasted great and I look forward to perfecting and making many more times.
