Tonkatsu - Asian-Style Pork Chop

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
The breading fried up very nicely. I ended up using almost three times more of the egg mixture than was called for and about double the panko. I will definitely be making this again.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese I

Reviewed: May 20, 2006
I'm used to mac&cheese out of the box, so the texture of this recipe threw me at first, but I got over it. I thought it was very good. Unfortunately, my son couldn't get past the texture. I'll make it again as a punishment ;).

Paprika Chicken with Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 20, 2006
I am officially a mushroom lover. I remember not liking them as a kid, but I used them anyway, thinking I should stick with the recipe. The flavor they added was great. I also added a half cup of cream to make sure I had enough sauce. The sauce turned out delicious. I will definitely be making this again.

Jimmy Dean Three Pepper Sausage Corn Cakes

Reviewed: May 21, 2006
I was reminded why I don't eat corn bread. I'm just not big on the 'graininess' of it. It was kind of bland, but I left out all of the veggies, so I should've added salt and/or onion salt and more pepper. While I could do things to add taste next time, I don't think I'd make it again just because of the cornmeal.

Bill's Beefuna Burgers

Reviewed: May 21, 2006
This is a great way to introduce fish into your diet. I didn't tell my son until he was done and he said they were good. I just wish he liked relish and onions. That would've taken these burgers to the next level.

Chili Dog Casserole I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
Great recipe. Not as messy as eating an actual chili dog. Easy to throw into tupperware for lunch at work. I didn't mind that the bread got soggy. Used two cans of chili. My son ate it as leftovers two or three times, which he rarely eats leftowovers at all.

Hawaiian Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
It was okay, but I did alter the recipe. I used 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 3T of butter. The sweetness was about right but it could've used a little kick. If I make this again, I will try some red pepper, which was suggested by other users. Besides the taste, this was very simple to make. Also, I cut the chicken into bite size pieces before cooking.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
Easy to prepare and tasty. Great as leftovers. Definitely use a cookie sheet under the meatloaf because it will bubble over.

Brazilian White Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
Easy and tasty way to add some zip to rice. I substituted 2 cups of water with chicken broth and it turned out fine. My finicky son also liked this. Definitely making this again.

Pepperoni Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
I went all the way and added pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese on top during cooking. Just used regular pepperoni. Turned out very good.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
I followed another's suggestion and cooked the sauce on the stove top first, and added some corn starch. I also used chicken quarters and wasn't concerned about the sauce sticking to the chicken. I just used it as a sauce to pour over rice. Turned out great. Next time, I'll try it using boneless and skinless chicken breast meat.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
I used some of the tips from the other reviews: (1) add salt, pepper, (2) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix. I used regular cream of mushroom and cooked for about 9 hours on low and it turned out fine. Next time, I won't add as much salt. I probably put in about a teaspoon and that seemed to be a little too much. Between the onion soup mix and the boullion cube, it doesn't need much more salt. Otherwise, this a great recipe. Easy to prepare and tastes great. What more can you ask for out of recipe?

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
This was good, but not great. It needed something more, but I'm not sure what. I'm relatively new to cooking, so I'm still getting a feel for how to tweak recipes to my liking. Overall, this was easy to make and tasted good, so I'll definitely be making it again.

Lemon Barbeque Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Very good recipe. Next time I'll leave out the cloves because my son wasn't too crazy about them, but I thought it added that extra something you look for in a recipe. I will definitely make it again.

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Very good cookie. Although, anyone who has ever had the 'Goldylocks' version knows that this recipe isn't quite the same. Still, it is very good and it will be a regular in my cookie rotation.
