Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
Such an easy recipe and with fantastic results! I used Green Mountain Dark Magic coffee and a can of beef broth over a pork roast. I added one onion, sliced, to the bottom of the slow cooker and seasoned the pork with garlic salt, pepper and a bit of seasoning sauce. I was generous with the spices, to make sure all parts of the pork were covered. I cooked it on low for 10 hours, removed the liquid and separated the pork with a fork. The onions basically melted into the pork, adding even more flavor. I put the pork back into the slow cooker and set it on warm while I waited for dinner to start. As for the liquid, I let it cool to remove the fat and then basted the pork as needed while it kept warm in the slow cooker. I cannot wait to have leftovers today!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
The best banana bread I've ever made! The only difference in my version is that I used 3 bananas and I mashed them before putting them in the mix. Thank you Janet!

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
Excellent quick meal! The only things I did differently was that I used a whole pound of turkey bacon and I added diced onions to the saute. My girls and hubby loved it. In fact, he said it was the best meal I've made!!

Frosted Cranberries

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Just beautiful and delicious! Kind of like a "fresh" sour patch kid! I used 1 tbsp. of light corn syrup in place of the egg because my daughter is allergic to eggs. It was a bit messy and time consuming but so easy for such a pretty and tasty result! I served mine in a crystal bowl and they looked gorgeous. A lot of guests at my in-laws' were a bit too nervous to try them (which is true for everything different at my in-laws'!!) but I sure loved them!

Very good and easy to make. I served it with the Chicken Enchiladas II and it complimented it well. Thanks!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
This recipe was delicious! I followed the recipe to the T, minus the chilis, which I didn't have on hand. I actually only used 4 tortillas and stuffed them so that some of the filling oozed out. I served it with the Mexican Rice II recipe on this site and my husband gave it a 9/10, which he rarely does! I can't wait to have leftovers tomorrow! Next time, I'm making extras and freezing some.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
This was restaurant quality. I can't say enough about it! I used 4 cups whole milk and 3 cups chicken broth, but other than that, I stayed true to the recipe. I was generous with my salt and pepper, but I tend to under season, so I think I just found the right amount for the soup. Definitely stir often!! I was distracted by my daughters in the beginning and almost burned the bottom of the pot! Delicious!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
This was my first attempt at making an apple pie. Because my husband confessed to me that he had never had apple pie before in his life, I couldn't let him go one more deprived day and instead of buying a store bought one, I decided to make this. It's been out of the oven for ten minutes but I couldn't wait to have my first slice. It's awesome!!! I did use store bought dough, but that doesn't matter...this tastes 100% homemade. I followed the recipe exactly but included a dash of vanilla to the sauce. I can't wait for my husband to come home and try it!

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
This dish was delicious and easy to make! I substituted cavatappi pasta for the penne and used white wine instead of vodka, but otherwise, I followed the directions exactly and it turned out delicious! My 3 year old twin daughters loved it too and they are quite picky!

Beef Taco Skillet

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
This is an excellent, quick and filling dish and perfect for when your pantry is a bit bare. I had everything on hand and everyone loved it. I made some changes: I added a small onion and minced garlic while the meat was browning; I seasoned the meat with cumin, chili powder, garlic salt and pepper, and I only used 3/4 can of tomato soup. My family loved it...even my finicky 2 year old twins!

Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
My husband said this was better than restaurant quality! It was delicious! I added an Italian blend of spices to the flour mixture and pounded the chicken breasts thin before coating. I served this with Emeril's Aglio e Olio but next time I will make more sauce to serve over my pasta. This is a keeper!

Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
I think I solved the riddle about the name...maybe "Hurry" is a play on words for ketchup/catch up??? Anyway, I was a bit skeptical about the dish, especially after I combined the ingredients for the sauce. I'm not a big ketchup fan (small doses please) but I needed something quick. I followed the recipe, except I used chicken breast, I only used 1/2 bag of onion soup mix and I seasoned the chicken with garlic salt and freshly ground pepper before placing them in the baking dish. I baked it on 350 degrees for 35 minutes and served it over white rice. When my husband first tasted it, he thought it was just okay. But with the rice, and after savoring the flavor (it's quite flavorful!) he said that it was definitely a keeper. I'd really only give it 3.5 stars but with his input, it was bumped up to a 4. I think my hesitance had to do with the fact that I used ketchup and I'm not a huge fan of sweet and sour. We'll make it again though, when I'm in a crunch.

Amazing Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
After reading the reviews, I made a few additions. I used panko instead of Italian breadcrumbs and added Italian dressing mix. To the mayo, I added some Italian seasoning, onion, garlic salt and pepper. I coated the chicken with a thin layer of mayonaise and served it with a side of pasta with garlic and oil. It was delicious. My husband was shocked at how good it was and I will be adding this easy recipe to my rotation.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
I'd give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. This recipe was great because it was easy to make and my picky husband and daughters all would eat it. But, it lacked a bit of flavor, even with the suggestions I followed from previous reviewers. It was good, but not the chicken and dumplings I remember that my grandmother used to make.
