About this Cook
I've always loved cooking and learnt from my mum and granny from when I was quite young. However it wasn't until I had my daughter that I got into the kitchen properly that's where my interested really got started. I've also spent a few years on the worse side of skint, and had to find tasty options from cheaper ingredients to keep us well fed! I'm well known for my "cupboard meals" That is - what ever's in there I'll make something up most times it ends up being very good!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, but rarely find time nowadays. Things like rock buns, fruit cake cherry biscuits are firm family favourites. I also love to make spicey food. It used to be a way for me to make the same things taste different a few times a week, and it's stuck with me. Everything from warm chilli chicken salad to spicey pork meatballs. I'm also a sucker for potato recipes, and anything involving chickpeas! Always have them in the house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas dinner with my dad brother. Always a panic some bits forgotten to the last minute, but always fun. Savoury pastries for girls nights in with my daughter, making a mess with loads of different fillings for the pastry.
My cooking triumphs
Chickpea curry - couldn't tell you how I made it though - it was really a case of throwing things in from the cupboard, but my veggie friends loved it still rave about it! Pea, leek potato bake. Another favourite with veggies, but when they're not round I add bacon/chorizo when frying off the leeks, onion garlic and it's fab for any occasion. Venison casserole, cooked for 2 days really really low (turning the oven off over night) with red wine juniper berries. Served with clapshot and it's great for winter dinner parties or in a bowl in front of the telly!
My cooking tragedies
The biggest was mushroon soup made with lamb stock that I had left over. Far too meaty just inedible. My husband ate it, but did ask that I never make it again!

Oma's German Marble Cake
I've made this cake about 6 or 7 times now & it turns out better every time I do it! Perfect for birthday parties for young & those of us slightly older!?!
