Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2013
This is now my go to stir fry sauce. This time I used thinly sliced pork, mushrooms, and long beans and it was delicious. It is compatible with any meat/vegetable. I doubled the sauce as other reviewers suggested and I would do it again. It is very nice to have extra sauce for the rice. Very kid friendly but sophisticated at the same time.

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
Very moist and flavorful. And a fun rainy day activity with my three-year-old. I did increase the bananas to 1.5 cups based on the other reviews I read. We used dried cranberries in place of nuts. We will definitely make this again.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
Moist and flavorful. A big hit with the family. I did double the garlic and bread crumb/Parmesan to adequately cover the chicken breasts.

Yummy! Quick and easy. Served them with homemade chicken noodle soup but really, these were the star.

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
I wasn't crazy about these cakes. Maybe I'm just not a molten chocolate cake person. They were a little bland and the consistency was strange. Gummy yet liquidy at the same time.

Pasta/Pizza Sauce

Simple, easy, and excellent flavor. Why spend all the money on jarred pizza sauce? Thank you!

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
Delicious! And I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise-based salads. Made this for a super bowl meal to go along with pulled pork sandwiches. Excellent flavor and quite simple. Just like my Grandmother's! Thank you!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
I don't understand the rave reviews for this recipe. I followed it exactly as written. The spice combination was way off. It wasn't inedible, but we did not enjoy it and I will certainly never make this again.

Fluffy Pancakes

Excellent and very easy. I didn't have white vinegar but apple cider vinegar worked very well. Thank you! They were a big hit with my toddler. Will definitely make again.

Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
Very tasty and super easy. I also used a bottle of beer (a honey porter) as part of my liquid. I would definitely make this again. I think I'll add onions next time.

Shrimp and Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Excellent flavor. Very easy to make. I had a pound of crab so I increased the half and half by an extra half cup and the wine by and extra 1/4 cup. Very thick, rich, delicious, and decadent.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Very good and super easy! I had to make a few modifications because I did not have all of the ingredients on hand. I used only one can of rotel tomatoes and an entire jar of salsa to sub for the tomato sauce and extra can of rotel. I used the beer and thought the flavor was great. Perfect for chilly fall and winter weather. My husband loved it.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2006
This is the only way I make brussel sprouts. Sometimes, if I am in a time crunch, I put them under the broiler (just be careful to go sparingly on the olive oil) instead of in the oven. In the broiler, it only takes 10 minutes at most. Also, near the end of the cooking time, I throw some pine nuts in with them. This toasts the pine nuts nicely and adds a nice extra nutty flavor.

Pasta Fagioli Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2006
Great basic recipe! I modified it a bit, though. I used spicy italian sausage(removed from casings) that I browned with half an onion before adding it to the soup. I also used a large bunch of fresh spinach instead of canned. The soup thickened a great deal on the second day of reheating. I will use much smaller pasta next time, though, because after re-heating, the pasta broke down quite a bit. Very good, though. I served it with fresh baked bread and grated grana padana cheese. Wonderful for a snowy day!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2005
Hands down, the BEST chocolate chip cookie I have ever made. My husband specifically requests this recipe. They are so soft, chewy, and chocolately. I mailed them to my husband (wrapped in foil and then placed in disposable tupperware) in Afghanistan. After 2 weeks of being in the mail, he said they were still perfect, soft, fresh, and chewy. He shared them with the other soldiers and they were gone within minutes. Great recipe!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2005
I don't even like pecan pie and I really enjoyed this. Typically, pecan pie is way too sickly sweet and gelatinous for me, but this was great. I used 1 1/3 c. pecans and also put pecan halves on the top. I used dark brown sugar because light brown sugar is not available where I live. Great recipe! Tasted like rich praline pecans!
