About this Cook
Living in the city makes it far too easy to forget about cooking and opt for takeout instead. It's not good for my waist or my wallet, so I'm trying to learn how to cook more from scratch at home! I can already bake better than most people, and with the help of my friends I am slowly learning to cook some great, healthy food!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, but am open to trying new dishes with lots of flavour. So far I'm doing well in the BBQ area!
My favorite family cooking traditions
BBQ! and the traditional dishes (green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, etc.) that we serve at Christmas & Thanksgiving dinners.
My cooking triumphs
Every day it's something new! :)
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a lovely cake for Thanksgiving, with colourful leaves piped on a chocolate base. The middle of the cake didn't rise, so I had to compensate with 2 inches of frosting in the middle, to even it out! It looked fine on the outside... but was terrible on the inside!

World's Best Scones! From Scotland to the Savoy to the U.S.
This was a great recipe and relatively easy to follow, especially with guidance from the comments. I did a trial run of these for my coworkers and they couldn't stop eating them! Then I made them again for a special tea party I was hosting, served plain with jam & Devon cream. They were a hit! People were fighting over who got the last ones! Next time I'll try mixing in some dried fruits or choco chips for variety. As a novice baker these were easy to make with great results!

Curried Carrot Soup
This was a great soup! Aside from having to chop all those carrots it was quick and easy to make and full of flavour! My friend just can't get enough of this soup and has volunteered to cut the carrots as long as I make it again! Tastes best if you puree it with an immersion or regular blender.

Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies
A little difficult to make, but they turned out fantastic! The flavour is so much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I wouldn't use raisins with these though.
