About this Cook
I am a nurse but when I have spare time I enjoy getting in the kitchen and cooking some favorite recipes or occassionally I will create new favorites. There is little that brings me more pleasure than to see people enjoy my cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook italian, southern or Louisiana cuisine. I love cooking the different sauces called for in italian dishes that bring the pasta to life. I was raised in the south and so those dishes; collard greens, fried chicken and such, come almost natural to me. My mother is cajun french and has passed down some wonderful family recipes. I am still prefecting my gumbo but am fairly close to the taste of hers. The rue can make or break the entire dish.
My cooking tragedies
As a young woman still trying to master the art of cooking, I was told by an in-law that my cooking was a secret family joke. At that moment I was determined to become the best cook I could possibly be. I have come far since that time and now have requests for my meals.

Garlic Rice
I really liked this dish since I am such a garlic lover. I added onion to it as well which gave it a bit more "umph". I actually served it with a chicken marsala and it went well with it. The rich bold flavors made a delicious combination.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
I had to add an additional cup of flour to get the dough firm enough to roll into balls. They were delicious and still remained soft and chewy.
