Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
made these last night ..my first pita recipe..so easy and so good.i used all white flour and my bread machine on the dough cycle....i didn't have a rack to cook them on so i just put them on a baking sheet timed oven for exactly 5 min and put directly in a container with a lid....side note...while i was letting them sit on the counter after i had rolled them into circles my sweet little 4 yr old put her hand imprint on a couple those didn't rise well while baking because the dough stuck together where the hand was...i had rolled some smaller and some bigger ..some thinner and some thicker they all came out good the thinner ones were thin on both sides..evenly, but the thicker ones were thin on one side and thicker on the other..i don't know if this was because i used a baking sheet instead of a rack or due to the thickness ..next time i will be very careful to handle the dough as little as possible i really think this is the key to making these good ..not to over work the dough..or put you hand print into them...good recipe..

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
i only boil them for 10 sec each side ...been making these for 2 years now come out great every time ...i found that cutting down on the boiling time makes the bagel not stick to your teeth....it is more soft and less chewy....great basic recipe can easily add dried fruit or japs and cheddar cheese for variety of bagel flavors....thanks for this great recipe!!!

Three Cheese Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
this is an easy basic mac n cheese recipe that tastes great!!! plus in the world of mac n cheese this one is actaully pretty healthy since you can use fat free products....i have been making this recipe for my family for over a year now....i use mustard and worchire and i always add extra cheese to it because i never remember to save some for the top...i also add onion and sometimes garlic...sometimes the noodles come out a little crunchy on top but that is how i know it is doner ...my family loves the extra little crunch :) if you are a picky eater or have texture issues this may not be a good recipe for you....my family loves it but we are not picky...we usually eat pretty healthy so this is junk food for us....very yummy and easy to change the flavor to your own personal taste..and one more thing i think that the cottage cheese is one of the things that make this dish great i think that rocatta would give it a very different flavor....

Lamb Barley Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
very good..however i did change a few things i had three lamb chops from a leg os lamb so i cubed it up and 1lbs of groung turky threw the meat and onion in a skillet and cooked until just browned....meanwhile in crock pot turned on to high i added half a big can of diced tomatoes and the tomato soup the recipe calls for i used 3 beef boullion cubes and about a tsp each of rosemary and thyme also added the meat and some mushrooms to the crock pot of course i followed the rest of the ingredients in the recipe like chile powder and barley..and whatever else that was in there...cooked half the day made some dinner rolls from this site..sprinkled a little swiss cheese over bowls..(so kids would try it) very yummy husbands only complaint was that it needed fresh japs but he loves everything spicey....o i did add a little more water to the recipe since it was in the crock pot but it came out very chunky and hearty...perfect for the cold day we had yesterday.....worth trying and if nothing else a great base to add to and take away from for barley stews...thanks for the recipe.....this is the first time i actaully got my hubby to eat barley!!! yippie!! i love barley

Becki's Oven Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2006
this was GREAT!!! my whole family loved it! i used 18 drumsticks instead of 10 wings and i had frozen chix so i boiled it about 20 min then baked it about 8 (i was in a time crunch)...next time i will let the chix thaw first and try cooking it in the sauce for more flavor.this is so simple and so tasty! i am going to try it today in the crock pot with a pork loin for sandwitches this week! good taste wow! i almost forgot i used tomato sauce instead of ketchup and real onion instead of powder...

Duck-and-Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2005
this was the first time i made a gumbo...my husband loved it!!! this is a keeper!i had leftover duck from christmas so i scaled the recipe down to 4 and i doubled all the spices that the recipe called for because i thought it was a little weak...and i bought hot smoked sausage..but it didn't take me 30-45 min for the rue i don't have much in the way of cookware(we're newlyweds) so i used a non stick pan and the rue was done in 15-20 min! and i didn't cook the veggies until tender because it cooked on the stove for 1h 20 min and i added extra okra...this was easy, tasty, a good change from the norm and a good base for my future gumbo endevors :) very good thank you!
