About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes; baking is very therapeutic for me. If I am stressed, I get in the kitchen and make cookies, muffins, quick breads,or yeast breads. Takes my mind off any problems, at least for awhile!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is very traditional with my family. If I change anything, they get very upset!! They will allow a new vegetable, however, I have to prepare my mother's southern cornbread dressing, gravy, macaroni and cheese, and fruit salad or it isn't Thanksgiving!
My cooking tragedies
One year at Thanksgiving, I had a new oven with the automatic cook and turn off feature. My mother accidentally pushed the wrong button and after a couple of hours, I noticed there was no cooking turkey smell.....the oven was not on and dinner was delayed a bit!! I've had many other "trajedies", too numerous to mention. Even "expert" cooks mess up!!

Slow Cooker Lemon Pepper Chicken
Very good; I ran my chicken under the broiler a bit to brown the skin, just for appearance sake on the platter....excellent flavor.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana
Yep, I've tried this's a close replica of the Zuppa Toscana soup that is served at Olive Garden. I have also made it with kale instead of spinach...kale being how the restaurant makes it

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew
I think for this to be more like a "chicken pot pie" (yes, I know it says stew....the addition of some crust type topping at the last 30 of cooking would be nice, even using biscuits to top or serve over.
