Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
DON'T CHANGE A THING IN THIS RECIPE!! The key to a creamy, smooth filling is to mix it on medium/high in your electric mixer until all lumps are gone. I thought this dessert would be good, but I was blown away by how totally extraordinary is was. DELICIOUS! The cream cheese, whipped topping, condensed milk, pudding mixture is very custard/cheesecake like. It is to die for! I would recommend that you make this the day before and refrigerate overnight so the vanilla wafers can soften up a bit. I will make this dish over and over again. It was the easiest thing I made out of the entire meal, and my favorite! Note: the bananas will begin to slightly brown after about 24 hours, so eat quickly! I don't think that should be a problem at all!!

Broccoli Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I used regular purple raisins because I like the color. It tasted awesome!! Everyone loves this salad. Be sure to mix well before serving, as all the dressing wants to settle at the bottom. Also, add sunflower seeds just before serving to maintain their crunchy texture.

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I'd give this recipe 10 stars if I could. My hubby kept asking me if I was sure these potatoes would taste good the next day for our guests. Not only were they good, my guests ate them up so fast, I barely got a taste! Heating them up was so easy. I just popped them in the microwave for about 7 minutes on high, stopping once to stir. Once heated, I added the recommended butter and covered with plastic wrap until lunch time. They tasted divine! No one guessed they'd been cooked yesterday...and I certainly didn't tell! Oh, one more thing, pierce the potatoes with a fork a few times before boiling with skins on.

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
Yes, this gravy tasted pretty good. However, I only gave it 3 stars because I just don't think the taste was worth all the extra effort. It was nice to have the gravy done ahead of time, but next time I'll just spend the 5-10 minutes after the turkey is done making the gravy.

No Knead Refrigerator Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
This recipe was easy to make, even for someone who typically makes bread in the bread machine. I made the dough and put in the fridge overnight, only punching down once after about 4 hours. In the morning, I took it out 2 hours before baking, punched it down and shaped it into balls, brushed melted butter on tops, covered with a sheet of plastic wrap and a towel, and let rise for 2 hours. They puffed up beautifully. They baked very nicely and were pretty light. My guests devoured them. The reason they didn't receive 5 stars is that the taste was maybe just a tad bland. Next time I'll add a little more salt, or use butter-flavored Crisco.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2000
This was my first time ever to bake a "real" cheesecake and it was well worth the work. Just be really careful to wrap the bottom and sides of your springform pan well with aluminum foil if you use the water bath, which I did and it turned our beautifully. I bake my cheesecake for about 10 or 15 minutes longer than the recipe called for, and I think it turned out with a wonderful texture; nice and firm, but not overcooked at all. My guests couldn't believe I made it! SINFULLY DELICIOUS

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2000
Don't worry if when you first cook your sauce, you think it smells and tastes horrible. I did, but once it had baked for an hour with the chicken, the wine flavor had mellowed and it was very good. The chicken was moist and tender. Be careful that you don't overcook your angel hair pasta, (it gets very mushy if you do). i made this for a murder mystery dinner party and everyone seemed to like it.
