Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2014
wow!! every bread recipe has reviewers saying that their recipe is the best. Well, I'm here to tell you, that THIS recipe is the BEST. THIS IS IT!. Yum! I used 2T of fresh rosemary (the kind sold in the grocery store in the little plastic packages in the produce aisle for $1.50- 1 package was enough) and I purchased a small thing of pepper that came in a grinder - I am not sure if quality matters for this- so I just bought the lowest price one which was the supermarket brand for $2.00)- I used a heaping 1/4 tsp. I used the dough cycle on the bread machine, took it out, punched it down, shaped into a round loaf and let it rise again for an hour. I slit a cross into the top, brushed olive oil on and liberally sprinkled course ground sea salt over it. Then I baked it at 375 for 30 minutes. I let it cool before I cut it and oh boy was it good. I didn't find the rosemary flavor to be overwhelming. Looking forward to making this again!

Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2014
This recipe was good. I followed the recipe as written. I set the bread machine on the dough cycle. Once completed, I then removed the dough and punched it down a few times to remove the air. I formed it to fit into my bread pan, covered it, and let it rise for an hour and a half. I baked it for about 35 minutes until the top was golden brown.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: May 17, 2014
This recipe was good. I used one can of black beans and I left out the bell pepper and jalapenos since I don't like them. I followed the advice of reviewers and added one can of diced tomatoes, though fresh tomatoes would have done well too. I used one onion and cilantro and about 4 ounces of cream cheese. I also added about a half teaspoon of powdered chili pepper and half teaspoon of cumin. I didn't add the salt- the recipe didn't need it! I also added some leftover corn I had in the fridge. I put cheddar cheese inside the burrito with the bean sauce. I kept the leftovers in the fridge. It tasted good cold the next day, I ate it with crackers as a dip and it was yummy.

Traditional Style Vegan Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
This came out good- replaced the soy and vegan items with whole milk items. Used veggie meat- tasted just like real meat when it was all done. Used zucchini in place of celery and a couple dabs of Worcestershire sauce - boyfriend loved it! I thought it was good; just am not too fond of meaty dishes; was surprised by how much this tasted like the real thing. Edit: I've made this several times since. I love putting Worcester sauce in the mixture and as a garnish. I've added more stars since I've really come to appreciate this dish.

Cheese Garlic Biscuits II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
These were delicious. I followed the other reviewers advice and doubled the baking powder while adding a pinch of baking soda. I used a ton of cheese and added some garlic powder to the batter. The biscuits are moist and cheesy and delicious. I baked 6 in a muffin ttray and the remaining 3 were baked on a cookie sheet. The ones on the sheet came out rather flat. I would not recommend using a baking sheet for this recipe, but a muffin tray. The biscuits baked in the muffin tray held their form and had a good consistancy.

Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
this bread is so delicious- it came out very moist and light with a thin crispy crust. I did make some changes: I used about 3 small bulbs (not cloves, but the entire bulb) of roughly chopped garlic and large clumps of cheddar cheese. (the garlic gets baked/cooked just fine in the machine- no need to precook/roast) I also used fistfulls of fresh basil, fresh parsley and a bit of fresh dill. the bread is really...out of this world; very flavorful (I did not use the parmesan cheese or the chives or the garlic powder). definitely would recommend this bread with the 3-bulbs of garlic combined with fresh herbs. also, please note that I did not have any problems using 4-cups of flour with my 1.5-2 lb bread machine.

Beet Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
yum! I made this recipe as described, only used vegetable broth to substitute the beef broth, as we are vegetarians. this soup came out fantastic! I also added a hint of dill the cream was the perfect compliment added to the sweetness of the beets. it made the soup! will make again, for sure.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
I made this recipe as instructed with the additional vanilla and baking power as was indicated by other reviewers. The cookies look pretty but definitely did not taste like anything special. They made a big batch that I am kind of stuck with because I do not want to share because they lack in taste. I'm kind of disappointed and still desire to find the most delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. If anyone knows of any, please pass it my way.

Orange Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
I've made this bread several times now. It is simply delicious. I substituted the hot water for orange juice (didn't warm it), and replaced the orange zest with a 4 oz. container of orange rind/peel. The orange rind really gives the bread a wonderful orange flavor and texture. This recipe is defiantly a keeper and is oh-so-yummy.

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
yum, this recipe was simply FANTASTIC. I'm not sure I have ever made something that tasted this good!! I followed the other reviewers' advice and I baked 1/2 to 3/4 a box of brownie mix on the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan for about 10-15 minutes. I used 3 packages of cream cheese, 3/4 cups of sugar and 3 eggs. Instead of melting carmel candy I simply used Smuckers Carmel syrup- I was a little nervous about using this-thought it might be a too runny- but it was perfect! It held its form under the cheesecake layer. I also put chocolate chips under the carmel syrup. mmmmmmmmmm and it tasted like heaven. I baked it at 300 degrees in a small water bath. It took about an hour and a half to bake! but it didn't crack. Seriously good. And it was easy to make! Gonna make it again for a family barbeque this weekend. I defintly recommend this recipe. And try using the Smuckers Carmel syrup. Way easier than melting candy- or using evaporated milk and it tasted oh-so-good!

Honey Cornbread

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
Used skim milk, as I han't any cream on hand. The bread came out great. It was really yummy. It wasn't overly sweet. Used white corn meal. Took no time to prepare. Yumyumyum. Edit: made this recipe again. Used heavy cream instead of milk- this bread came out super moist and sweet. I served it for breakfast and everyone loved it.
